After her failed attack on the Fourth Layer of Hell, Mei could only come back home to lick her wounds. Her pride was hurt and she was fearful that the elders might try to punish her for failed attack. But on the other hand, she thought they would let her slide just so they don't lose the fae's alliance with them. Whatever the consequences were, she had to be sure that this mistake doesn't happen again.
She needed a plan. She needed back up from the Kings in the other layers of Heaven.
This was going to be hard to do on her own. She would have to wait until she got fully recovered though. Mei sat in her bedroom on a chair in front of the mirror wondering how were her servants doing, they should be in their quarters recovering...

Katana managed to walk freely to the room of her Mistress; she and her sisters, after the battle, had sustained injuries but not ones that could have been considered grave. The only exception to this was Kendama, but she had brought this upon herself.
Why hadn't Sanada killed them when he had the chance? That was the question that plagued her.
But she shook it from her mind, concentrating on the goblet of healing broth that she was carrying to Mei. With this she carried a small sandwich; Katana was fascinated by the...what did Humans call it...? Food! Yes. She was fascinated by the food because as a Celestial, she wasn't allowed to eat anything--there was no need for her to eat anything to sustain herself.
Mei, her Mistress, was a Fae. She was different. Because she was not governed by the laws of Heaven, she was allowed to eat because it would replenish her strength. She alone could do this without reprecussion from the Elders.
Knocking on the door before she entered, she asked politely, "How is my dear Mistress doing?"

Mei could already smell the food that was on the other side of the door before she heard her servant knocking on the door. "Come in my dear child."

Katana made her way to Mei's bedside, smiling as she sat the food down. She peered, quizzically at the nourishment, and asked, "I don't mean to be rude, but...what does food taste like?"

"What does food taste? You act like you haven't...." Mei stopped when she remembered that these people here in Heaven don't eat food. She couldn't imagine not being able to eat food. "Well its kind of hard to describe what food taste like. Each and every kind of food taste differently. Even one's chicken has different taste from another's chicken though they would have a very similar taste." She frowned a bit trying to come up with an explanation of the taste of food.
"I don't think I can come up with an adequate description." She sighed. She thought of giving her servant a taste of her food but she didn't know of the repercussions of her act would bring.
Taste and smell are very close senses. Surely with just the smell of this food, I have an idea on how it would taste like. Perhaps smelling the food would give some kind of hint but it wouldn't help if she hadn't tasted anything before.
All she could do was smile. "I'm sorry my dear. It would be easier to have you taste it but I would not know what it may do to you or what the consequences would be for the both of us."

Katana sighed. "To ensure that I do not partake of Mortal Food, I can no longer taste. Sasuke knew that the temptation would not be there if I did not have taste receptors..."
Katana was glad that her Mistress had taken the time to attempt to explain these things to her. She seemed to genuinely care about her as a being. It was nice to have that feeling. Sasuke had care for them, but being under a new Master had left katana expecting the worst.
"Is there anything else you will require," Katana asked, "while I am still here?" She felt a blush rise to her cheeks as she looked upon her Mistress. Sometimes she felt so appreciated, she didn't know what to do...

"You can stop looking like you would die for this woman that replaced our beloved Sasuke," Kouki said, slinking into the room. She had wanted to check on their Master, just to see if she was still alive or not, and found her sister caring for her, as though she was not a King but some wretched peasant with gangrene.
"Whatever the Master wants the Master can get for herself. However will she get stronger if you cater to her every whim. That is not what we are for. Katana, you do paperwork, and you fight. No where in your systems is the need to comply with such tasks as preparing food that you cannot eat or talking to someone who is nothing else but your superior. You protect her. That is all that is required of you. Why forge a bond when there's nothing there? I know that Sasuke programmed you to be courteous, but this is bit too far for a simple Master, don't you think?"

Mei was about to respond when her other servant came in a little rudely. She frowned at her servant, "Well you could have at least knocked. I don't like people coming into my quarters as they please. And I don't think you should be talking so coldly to your sister like that. Yes her job isn't to prepare and serve food, but I think one should be concern of their master's health."
She turned and took a sip of her broth and took a bite of her sandwich. It tasted good which made her feel better but she started to contemplate about this servant here. She seemed to be awfully rude and she seemed to be more fond of the previous King then she was. She didn't notice Katana blushing at all.
"What are you doing here anyway child? Is there reason why you felt the need to be here?" She hoped it was something important, there should be no other reason why she would walking freely into her room.

Katana was glad that Lady Mei had stuck up for her. Kouki had been designed with the highest duty of protecting Master Sasuke's body as he slept in death. She could not believe the gall of Kouki to insult the new Mistress Mei. Was there a reason for it? Was there something about Sasuke that made him important that she knew and not the other sisters?
Katana did not think that Mei was a waste of energy. If one was not friends with their Master, then their experience as a servant was going to miserable. She and her sister all knew that. Sasuke, though he had created them, was just another King in the line of Kings that had ruled Heaven. Their loyalty was supposed to be with Heaven, right? Not with their creator. They were made for Heaven, and not Sasuke.
She hated to say it, but this was the fact that her sister had yet to learn. However, she knew Kouki, and she would have never bothered to visit someone that she didn't like for no reason. Clearly, something important had occured and she was bringing news. Katana did commend her sister, however; regardless as to whether or not she liked her Master, she was loyal.
Katana sighed, not sure if Kouki was this way because of her own character or the programming...

"I'm here," Kouki said, her voice still devoid of emotion, "Because there is a rumor going around that you should be aware of. It's very important."
After pausing for a moment, she said, "It is rumored that Tsubasa attempted to be promoted to ruling the seventh layer of Heaven. She called all the Elders and asked them to vote on it. I can't believe that bitch! Do you know what this means? She's trying to take over Heaven--Sasuke thought this would happen, but because he and Tsubasa were friends, he didn't have to worry about it one way or the other. Now that you're here, if Tsubasa rules, she won't allow you to be a King of Heaven at all, simply because you're a Fae; she doesn't care whether or not Heaven has an alliance with them. She won't let you stay here. You need to go speak to one of the other Kings or Elders and figure out what's been going on while you've been weak. There is work to be done, and you're not doing anything!"

While sipping on the broth, Mei listen to her rude servant tell her the news of Tsubasa. She didn't know of any of the elders since the Fae Queen made arrangements with all of the Elders for her to stay here. Or so she thought. However upon hearing her servants last comment, she drop her spoon and she stood up.
"How dare you say that i'm just sitting here doing nothing?! I've been in bed recuperating from my battle in hell! Besides I have been writing letters for all the Heaven Kings to come and have a meeting with me concerning this war. Have a look for yourself!" She reached over and grabbed the stack of letters and threw it at her servant.
"Why don't you be an obedient servant and take those letters to the Kings." Mei went back to her seat. "Oh and another thing. I will not have my servants go walking around speaking such vulgar language and making me look bad. You'll refrain from swearing, do you understand me?"

The invitations hit her and then spiraled to the floor. She dusted off her shoulders.
Kouki said, a smug, defiant smirk on her face, "Yes, Master, if that is what you wish of me." Her voice was soaking in sarcasm, and she really didn't care what Mei would say next. After all, she had agree to her orders--she wasn't required to do anything else.
"However," she continued. "I will not be picking these horrid things off of the floor. They are pieces of paper. The other Kings need to see you. This is not the Faerie Kingdom. You can't just send a bloody letter to someone and hope that they'll actually listen to you. Things do not work like that here. What have letters done for you in the past. Sure, they've gotten everyone together, but what did they do when the chips fell and you needed help? Nothing. Setsuna, because she is the only loyal King to Heaven, and Haruhi--no one knows where that Shijin-forsaken woman is now--and so they do not matter. None of this matters.
"But you told me to send them, and so I will, Master. Katana," she ordered. "Pick up these wretched strips of paper. I am not a maid and I am not cleaning up after anyone so long as I can help. You have allowed this...Fae to break you. You do it."

Katana, out of habit, swiftly picked up the papers. She did not want to make Kouki angry. No one did.
Her Mistress was talking to Kouki, and so she kept her mouth shut. She just hoped that Kouki didn't try to hurt Mei--it would not end well...she was being quiet now, but no one would be allowed to harm her Mistress.

"Why you little insolent....insolent child! I'm getting tired of your rude and disrespectful behavior and I'll not tolerate it from any of my subjects!" She got up and smacked her hard, "I don't care if you hate me, at least have some respect to your new master!"
She snatched the papers out of Katana's hands and forced them into her other servants hands. "You'll do you're task and you'll do it in a respectable manner without any problems. And when you get back you next task is to clean the entire castle grounds, inside and out. I don't care if you're a maid or not. Do you understand me?! Now get out and stay of my sight until you're done with you're tasks!!"

Kouki smiled as the blow landed on her face, and spoke as though she hadn't been hit at all, her smug smile growing as she said, "Yes, Master." She clutched the papers in her hands, spinning on her heel as she left, her smug smile turning into a chuckle as she left.

Mei remained expressionless until Kouki disappeared from sight. Her faced turned into a bright red as her face frowned up."I should make that child clean the this whole place with her tongue. She is going to make me want to lock her up."
She turned to Katana. "Katana, if you ever in your life of servitude dare to act like her even just by a pinch, I will severely punish you."
She sat back down to finish eating her food and realize that she had dropped her spoon. She sighed and started sipping the broth from the bowl. She quickly devoured the sandwich was soon as she was done with the broth. Eating made her a little happy again but she was still disappointed in her servants behavior. She grabbed the tray in which her empty plate and bowl was on and held it out for her servant. "Here Katana, take these dishes back. After you're done with that, I want you to check on the remaining soldiers that we have and see if they're up to par. I don't want another incident to occur with the remaining forces if we should have to defend or go out and attack. You may be dismissed now dear."
