Kaori could feel Issac's disrupted feelings drafting over to her in waves. She did not know that the death of an aggressor would upset him so, but she suppsoed that part of that was because there was no real explanation as to what this situation was all about. She would tell him soon; especially if he was traveling with her.
"Wake me set out to leave please, thank you..." Issac said, shuffling back into his room. Knowing that this was not the time to speak to him about her personal matters, Kaori continued to look over her cousin's lifeless body. What would happen when the older family members began to pursue her? She did not want the killing to continue, but her dreams being interpreted was a mission that came first. There was much plauging the world, and she did not want a catastrophe to occur if she could be there to intercept it.
Sighing, she rested her head in her hands.
Knowing that nothing could be done to satisfy Kaori's feelings towards her family, Matthew said, "I will find Yama and inform him of tonight's events.

By the time that Yama rushed into the passageway containing their guests, it was too late. The intruder was on the ground, eyes closed, with Matthew and Kaori standing next to the body. He had known that the trio were being pursued, but to the point where bloodshed was necessary? However, Yama and Matthew were old friends, and he knew that the inujin wouldn't have killed unless it was necessary, or if Kaori's life was in danger. He assumed that it was the latter.
Still, it had been so long since he had smelled the stench of fresh blood, he wobbled a bit as he sighed and said, "...was this necessary?" knowing the answer to this question, he continued without waiting for an answer, "you have shed blood in the temple. There is a doctrine against that, and you have broken it." Even Matthew could not be protected from the laws of the temple. He knew that, having grew up here. "As is tradition, you all must leave in the morning, and you all are no longer allowed to set foot in this temple from the moment you leave." He hated having to be so harsh, and he hoped that Matthew would understand.
Then, Yama bowed. "I am glad that you are safe, Kaori. However, I suppose that you pack for leaving first thing tomorrow. Kaori, please go back to your room, Matthew and I will help you dispose of the body with proper honors. I'd rather not wake Peana."

Kaori saw Yama's eyes, and the shock that was held within them, despite his training as a monk. His posture was perfect, his voice calm, but his eyes made him readable, even without her magic. He wasn't scared, but disappointed that such an event had happened in his temple. Kaori could understand, and she hoped that there wouldn't be an occurrence like that again during her journey.
He alerted them that they would have to leave. Kaori expected that much. Matthew had killed in a temple--a rash act because of their surroundings. Matthew had seen what Kaori's grandmother was capable of doing, and it was her grandmother's capacity for evil that had driven Matthew to kill. He knew that Kaori's cousin would not spare her even the smallest sliver of pity.
They had to pay the consequences for their actions. Kaori bowed back, and she said "I am sorry that we have disgraced your temple. We will help clean the mess and remove ourselves from your temple at first light. Thank you for offering your hospitality so far." Kaori, breaking Yama's formality, said in serious tones, "I am deeply sorry, old friend. It was not our intention..."
But enough of that. There was nothing to be helped now; the deed had been done. Kaori softly ordered Matthew to follow Yama, to help clean the mess that he had made, and Kaori turned away from the pair of them, heading to her own quarters to pack her small list of belongings.
