The group Squamata refers to all reptilian creatures, including amphibians and all sorts of other creatures. Because of this, there are two groups of youkai for this Clans, and they are known as: - Tokage (all types of lizards and amphibians)
- Hebi (all types of snakes)

Tokage (Lizard) Youkai Made by the Shijin to be the most adaptable, the term Tokage encompasses both Lizards and amphibians. They typically live in seclusion and are the rarest type of youkai to see in Human form. Like the Kuma, theytypically live only in families. They are the most primitive youkai in terms of lifestyle as well. As creatures who exist the majority of their lives a animals, their number one priority is to ensure that their families survive to maturity. After that, they separate and begin another family while their children start their own. The thing that makes them distinguishable from their Mortal Realm counterparts is their family groupings. Normal reptiles and amphibians do not so much as stick around until their offspring are born, let alone until maturity. Because of their primitive natures, they change to their Human form to pass down the concept of how the youkai heirarchy works, and their personal craft as a group, which is the making of armor, something that the Squamata have been known for doing for millennia. They make armor for all other youkai, themselves included. That being said, the Lizard half of the Tokage possess skin that is sturdy. All Squamata, however, possess skin that is magic-resistant, repelling simple and petty magics. Tokage youkai also make weapons--but only for themselves or someone who has done them a great favor or deed. They usually only make heavy weapons--such as axes, lances, broadswords, and hammers. This is because in Human form even female Tokage have great strength. They are one group that is comprised of members that can even the Kuma youkai in Human of half form. As such, both of these groups are very friendly toward each other and have an understanding about the inner workings of war. Requirements for Tribe names: Tokage youkai tribes are named after desert areas, oasises, or descriptions of them. Requirements for group magic: Tokage don't use magic. *Admin note: to create a Tokage youkai group, please PM the admin using the Fork option in the upper right hand corner.

Hebi (Snake) Youkai Hebi youkai are part of the squamata group, just like the Topata. They adapt to many different types of climates and habitats, like the Topata, but unlike them they do not prefer seclusion. Although they can stand it to a certain degree, Hebi youkai do not and never will enjoy cold whether or locations that cannot claim natural sunlight as a feature. Hebi youkai love their in-between form, and enjoy living together with their families as well as traveling abroad. Because of their interaction withthe Human world in the past, they are also known in various folklores as Lamia and Nagi, as well as a plethora of other names. In their inbetween form, they can easily be mistaken for a hebi-jin, and there is practically no difference other than that all youkai have three forms, and jin only have one. At times, they can also be mistaken for Mermaids and Mermen in their in-between forms, but looking at the queue of the tail can differentiate, as Merpeople have fins. Hebi youkai are not as strong as Tokage youkai, although their tails can land heavy blows when there is enough momentum. Hebi youkai are the philisophical species of youkai--most of them do not practice combat with magic, and those that do are very particular with the kinds that they associate with--and are very heavy meditators, almost like monks. They usually live simple lives and are unfamiliar with modern Human technology. In the Nigenkai, Hebi youkai can been discovered running temples, farms, ranches, and other forms of natural job occupations. Requirements for Tribe names: Hebi youkai tribes are named after plants and descriptions of them. Requirements for group magic: Hebi youkai are allowed to use any type of magic that is not Darkness, Chaos, Void, or Ice. *Admin note: to create a Hebi youkai group, please PM the admin using the Fork option in the upper right hand corner.
