Melancholy [Shadow; FINISHED]

Runa wasn't sure what to do. Felicia had been missing for more than a week, almost two, and her attempts to actually find Felicia had come up fruitless. She had a meeting with her family coming, to tell them of some of the work that she was doing with Shadow. She knew that they would ask to speak to Felicia, to ask if she had experienced any visions since her stay.

She thought that she could accomplish this on her own, but there was no one else that she trusted with her sister's identity other than her family. She was on her own.

She walked through the halls of the Devil Saints headquarters, her heart filled with grief. She was running out of options.

She reached Shadow's office, her head held high, her heart beating fast, and she wondered if he would truly be able to help her.

She knocked.

Shadow was just coming out of the bathroom in his room when he heard the knock on his door. He wasn't expecting anyone to come to his door, at least not around this time. But like always, he checked it anyway. Luckily for the person who was at the door, he was dressed.

When he opened it, he smiled. Seeing his girl always did that to him but this time it looked like she was the one in need for a smile.

"What's up?" he only asked as he left an opening for her to enter.

Runa instictively lengthened her nail into a claw, nervously gnawing on the edges as she entered Shadow's room without a single word of salutation. She stalked to the middle of the room, and then pivoted on her heel and said,

"I should have come to help from you earlier." She paused, and pulled her claw out of her mouth to speak some more. "I didn't tell you because I didn't want to involve you. I didn't want you to know about her and what she can do. It would put you at risk, and my family would never respect you, and that's the thing that I want to happen the least. They already don't like you because you're Human, basically, so I don't need to give them any other reasons." She took a deep breath, realizing that she hadn't said anything about what was really wrong. "I hid this from you...but I've secretly been using the contacts here and from my parents own youkai resources to try to find Felicia. She's been missing for almost two weeks--I know I told you she was staying with our family back in Madrid, but I was lying. I know--I'm terrible..." and she felt terrible just having to say it. "But we've been caught up doing a lot, and I didn't want to bother you and mix you up in something that could potentially be dangerous...I'm sorry. And I know you're probably mad at me--and I won't stop you, because I'm already mad at myself, but would you please, please help me track her. Then you can yell at me all you want. You can unseat me, if you wish. But she's still missing, and I need to find her..."

Runa was not going to cry. She had gone through worse things than this. Felicia had been kidnapped before. To a degree, she was desensitized as far as physical emotions went. She had been trained to always think the worse. But in this case, she couldn't, because she loved Felicia and she really believed that if she was dead she would have heard something about it by now. And even as she worried more and more about her sister, she found herself expressing it less and less.

Shadow watched as Runa enter the room. He watched her walk to the middle of it and even as she spoke. Shadow heard every word of it and only thought of what to do.

Yeah, there was the fact that she was hiding something from him and the fact that she use the contacts that were here, to which some of those people were not to happy with past jobs but it was for her sister and Shadow could understand that. He did had Sara to deal with from time to time.

"Runa, it was good that you came to me for this," Shadow started as he closed the door, "But you should have said something sooner about this." The young human sighed as he walked toward Runa and held her by the waist.

"I'm not going to unseat you. It's not that many people that could take your place and your parents would like me a lot less if they heard that I did that to you. We will find your sister, I promise." Kissing her slightly on her lips he hugged her.

Letting go, he smiled and asked "Now, where do we start? Assuming that she wasn't taken, where might she go?"

As expected, Shadow scolded her, but only slightly; she had been expecting much worse, but he sighed and affectionately held her, and even kissed her, which was the farthest from the reaction that she had expected. He said that no one could take her place, and that he was not going to unseat her, and he mentioned her parents.

...are my parents the reason why he's not going to unseat me? Am I not replaceable because of their information?

But she didn't have any time to wonder about that, as Shadow went straight into asking where she may have gone. That was the problem. Felicia had never run away before, so she had no idea where she could have gone.

"When she was younger, sometimes she would wish that she could be by herself as a kitten. In that form, she can't have any visions. She would sit alone. There were places that she could go back home, but...she's not anywhere near there. Devil Saint Headquarters aren't even near Spain. It would have taken some sort of miracle for her to get there, and I would have heard from my parents already. They have eyes everywhere."

Shadow thought about the situation at hand. Runa's sister was missing and they had no leads. He had to think about this and he didn't want to say something that just made her feel better, she needed results.

There were places that she could go back home...

"Then we are going to have to be our own eyes, babe," he started as he went over to her and grabbed her hand, "We are going to have to go to Spain. If your parents ask, tell them that we are on assignment for a client that lives there."

He clasped her hand tightly, saying that they would have to do things themselves. Runa appreciated the support; she was really distraught, although she was trying her best to stay calm. Shadow said that they should go to Spain, and while it was an idea that she didn't want to consider, it was the most likely choice, and the one place that she should search herself rather than hiring someone to do it.

But she believed that things would be more complicated than just fooling her family with a lie. They ran an intel service, for crying out loud; it was their job to find information, to tell the truth from the lies. Knowing this intimidated her, because she knew exactly who and what she was against. Shadow did not. He was underestimating things, as he had the habit of doing.

Despite that, though, there was no other alternative.

"Alright..." Runa said slowly. "We'll go...but we have to be very careful."

Shadow looked at Runa with a smile, hearing the answer that he was hoping to hear from her but he then frown when she said that they had to be careful. careful what he couldn't say.

Careful because of her parents, well that was a given if anything but he had to ask at least.

"Is there something on your mind that you're holding in?" he asked in a more serious manner, "You can tell me anything, that's what I'm here for..."

That was the one thing that she had always liked about Shadow; he was always there when she needed him, even if sometimes he was really busy with Devil Saint business.

"I just...I think think that this isn't going to go as planned at all. But we need to find her. So, I will do what i must." Facing Shadow, she hugged him tightly, pulling back only to kiss him deeply, her hands moving behind his neck to steady him there.

After she pulled back from the embrace, she said. "I'm ready. We have to find her."

Shadow smiled as he looked at Runa. Such bueaty but so much worry of the one's she care about the most. He sometimes wonder if he was the one for her but the kiss that she gave him made him put that thought away, for now at least.

Making a nod as he reached Runa's right hand, he led her to the door. "To Spain then."
