Taiyou teleported back to his shack on the edges of a small rural village. Despite his attempts to mellow out at the small tavern that was filled with all sorts of lively people, Taiyou still felt a gapping hole within himself, feeling despair over his failed attempts to pass his time helping others, wasted in his efforts from the response and the reputation he had gained. Opening the still singed door, Taiyou looked around to see his small cabin had been just as he left it before his travels, burned and empty.
"Is this all my life has become.....? Has it come to wandering and vagrancy to fill my life? I can't even die like I want, I thought that Tomo would have everything including the kitchen sink looking for me, but she is much of a damned coward now..." Taiyou said aloud, walking inside without shutting the door. Stopping at the mantle, Taiyou stared at picture of his family, the edges of the photograph still burned. "My life is kerosene, good for only burning..." Taiyou mumbled somberly.
At that moment, Oni appeared next to Taiyou, her usual smirk present on her near corporeal face. "It's like I told you, no one gives a shit about anything. You expect the world out of everyone, and you don't even live in it yourself. If you did, you'd see that your happiness, your family, your loyalty... it don't mean shit." Oni said, folding her arms as she tore into Taiyou's already low morale.
Taiyou turned and looked at her, his face blank in emotion, slightly nodding in agreement. "I... I just..." Taiyou stammered before processing his thoughts. He thought back on all his recent travels, and the end result wasn't positive in any of them. So far he'd almost instigated a fight in a bar, caused property damage and potentially threatened that lives of civilian by trying to subdue someone else's rage, and participated in a fight where a young man was killed, the assailant fleeing the scene. The only common factor in all of these situation was that in the end Taiyou was to blame, despite his best intentions.
"Well, what now, do we stay here and mope, you drown yourself in liquor and whine about how you life sucks. Or do we do what we fucking have to do, what the fuck I've been trying to tell you to do." Oni said taking the picture of Taiyou's family. Holding it between her fingers, the picture began to dissipate, Taiyou watching attempted to reach for the last remnant of his family s Oni held out her hand in protest. "You see what I just did? I that and I don't gave two shits how you feel about it. It took nothing but to grab the picture, and destroy it. Your a victim again, because you stood there. You always gonna be the victim as long you breath, till you make everyone else pay." Oni said looking at Taiyou.
Taiyou was too shocked to be angry. Like that the last portrait of his beloved family was gone in an instant. He felt cold inside as he looked at Oni, and as the hole in the pit of his soul grow larger, the edges of it burned as a liquid began to drip into the void. Kerosene, so pure, it burned all it touched and Taiyou realized that he would have to become such a thing to get what he wanted. Revenge, justice, the death of Sanada Tomo.
"Your getting weaker everyday you know? I'm leaving if this all you've become. There are plenty of other idiots I can have, your not special. So what will it be?" Oni said opening her hand, causing the small shack to explode violently, destroying everything Taiyou had in this world. Standing next to him among the rubble, Oni opened a portal, the small amounts around wreckage being sucked into the vortex. Well?" She said, her patience exasperated.
Taiyou stared into the apparition, his face unchanged, devoid of all feeling, and then he peered into the portal. Squeezing his fist, Taiyou turned his back to her shapely, and walked into the portal, not knowing where it went, but not caring where it took him. Oni smiled as she disappeared, leaving the former shack which was now a pile of rubble behind forever.
