This Realm was created by the Shijin both as a location to change what they wished away throughout history and as an experiment to observe the actions of their creations when faced with the opportunity to alter the course of time. However, other than dropping obscure clues across the earth to rouse suspicion of the keys existence, the Shijin did nothing further to alert any race of the Realm's existence. The exception to this Rule are the Celestials, who in the days of the Shijin's rule would pace the Path of Gates to deter those without permission to enter from attempting to damage the door.
The Realm of Time is sealed away by a door that requires two keys. One key is shaped like a crescent moon; the other like the blazing sun. Both were scattered into the Mortal Realm, and await their discovery by any man or creature that can disclose their location. Once they are found, and used to open the door, they are scattered once again as the door opens, ensuring that the previous searcher owner neither knows their new location nor is capable of opening the door with them again directly after the first time.
Upon the Realm of Time the Shijin have placed a number of other safeguards as well; there is a guardian there. Known as Father Time in many cases, this being is the very first sprite spawned from the Ruling Elemental Spirit of Time. He appears in many forms when he is spoken to: sometimes he looks like a child, other times a man in his prime and of course in most cases he assumes the form of an old man in large robes. He has no official name, but is responsible for the upkeep of the Realm itself. He is the only one who can touch and alter time, and he does so at the behest of those who enter.
The Realm itself appears as a large lake. It is dark and glassy on the surface. Underneath where the water touches the air above it, scattering down into the depths of the pond are trillions of small candles. Each has a flickering flame that each second shows a piece of an event. These events shimmer throughout the pond, piecing together the seconds that make up moments, the moments that lead to decisions that lead to scenes and scenes that span to complete memories, and memories that complete lives.
Despite collecting the keys to enter the Realm, however, there are things that a guest is not allowed to ask for: Reversing events where more than 5,000 people become deceased in the Mortal Realm, or where more than 300 die in the Celestial Realm; reversing moments that were more than 1000 years ago Celestial time (that's 500 years on the Mortal Calendar); he does not possess the power to reverse the imprisoning of the Shijin themselves, nor the creation of Realm or Races. He cannot send anyone back in time to relive their life and do things over in a way that will alter the future farther back than two years (in both Mortal or Celestial). When doing this, he can alter only one event, and in doing so you lose all experiences that you gained after that point unless (and this never happens) you "coincedentally" make all of the same decisions that you made before. [A/N: THIS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED.]
Many of those who venture to the Realm of Time are those who seek to be greedy and alter things to be in their favor; when the Realm was first created, those who visited merely wished to be shown the favorite moments in their lifetimes. This was when beings were wiser and understood that something was always lost when a person fiddled with time. More recently, the keys have almost more instinctively hidden in more obscure places, almost as though they know that creatures are more selfish and dangerous as ever.
[NOTE: All those who enter the Time Realm MUST speak to an admin about their intentions before posting there.]
