Kain appeared out of the darkness the abandoned room of Skylight Industries offered his darkness magic to transition out of the shadows. The Tenmeigakure assassin had lost track of his assignment and had just returned to the village to report his failure to the clan leader Tsurugi. But instead, he was greeted to a horrible display of death and destruction. The village was burned to the ground, along with the deaths of the Head Guards and the horrific preservation of Tsurugi's corpse. Not knowing what to do, he searched throughout the village only to find that not a single body other than those of the Head Guards could be found. And the fact that Tsurugi was dead so soon after his meeting with the head of Skylight Industries lead Kain to realize that there was only one person responsible for this madness. Markus Bleache'. Before he could decide on a plan of action, Kain heard the presence of another being. Retreating back inside the shadows, Kain left the remains of the village and immediately retreaded back to where the perversion all began; Skylight Industries. And as he waited in the shadows, he would eliminate the one called Markus Bleache', and bring justice to what happened to his home village; the justice that Kyoumou Tsurugi believed in...

[This takes place after "Gotta Knock A Little Harder," located in Tomo's palace]
Oracle walked into his luxurious office of Skylight Industries main location in Tokyo. It was dusk; the Malakite could tell by the color of the sky. And the fact that it took a week to discuss matters with both kings of Heaven and Hell didn't help his frustration at the time. He was just happy to be back in the Ningenkai; his kingdom.
When he returned to the Ningenkai, he did so in his Markus Bleache' guise. He didn't feel like dealing with the screams of mortals with his return home. Taking off his suit jacket walking down his carpeted path to his desk and wall-sized window behind it, he threw it toward a chair near the fireplace, showing off his untucked gray dress shirt set to fit his slim figure.
Reaching his desk, the Malakite poured him a drink of bourbon in a glass he always made sure was present at his desk. He picked it up while placing his free hand in his pocket. But before his lips could even touch the glass, he stared out the window before him and smiled.
"You know," Oracle projected, "the first time you performed that little trick, it had me speechless. Now I know what brand of smoke and mirrors you use, it's not that amusing anymore."
He took a sip.
"So why don't you stop trying to entertain me with your magic and do what you came here to do?"

Kain watched with patience as Markus entered the office, blending into the darkness of the shadows to keep out of sight. By the time he saw him reach his desk, the assassin had already maneuvered through the many shadows the darkened room allowed, slowly stalking the businessman. But by the time Kain became one with his own shadow, he heard him declare his presence, stating that he was not impressed with his stealth now that he was aware of his abilities over darkness and suggested to just get his mission over with. So he obliged.
Immediately catapulting out of the shadow cast by Markus Bleache', Kain threw three kunai the businessman's way. Once thrown, Kain bent his body to a back flip, landing with cat-like agility. Not taking the time to see if his kunai hit his target, Kain immediately unsheathed his sword and ran toward the businessman to take his revenge on the destroyer of the Tenmeigakure.

Oracle finished his glass of bourbon and turned around. He smirked in his accuracy, correct in assuming that the assailant hiding in the darkness of his office was his once-assigned charge, only known to him by the name of "Kain." The Tenmeigakure assassin threw three kunai his way. The idea of such projectile weapons made the Malakite chuckle under his breath as he allowed the kunai to phase through him using his veil of void magic.
"You humans never cease to amaze me," Oracle stated. By the time he opened his eyes from his chuckle, the silent assassin ran toward him with an unsheathed sword. Oracle raised his hand and extended his palm toward the fool, giving him a sadistic grin in the process.
"Don't bother."
With a projected blast of void magic, Oracle transformed the sword in Kain's hand into a suffocating gas. Oracle, now amused to the point of arousal, decided to take full advantage of this little bout the mortal assumed would be declared an easy victory. Revealing his true form, Oracle twirled his staff and removed the hood from his head.
<Foolish mortal!> he projected in Kain's mind. <You underestimate the gravity of the situation you placed yourself under!>
Oracle flew low to the floor, bypassing the suffocating gas and grabbed the ninja of darkness around his throat. Raising Kain above himself, Oracle grinned maniacally at the ninja, knowing that he could easily end his life whenever he wished.

Right before Kain was able to deliver the killing strike against the being who destroyed the village of the dawn, his sword erupted into millions of small gas particles. And whereas his facial mask would protect him from such gases, whatever his sword transformed into was able to successfully maneuver through the fabric strands. As he inhaled, he started to gasp for air, noticing that after that inhalation that he could inhale no longer while he was in the midst of the deadly haze.
As Kain grabbed his throat signalizing that he was unable to breathe correctly, a sinister voice that was foreign to him started to echo in the bowels of his mind.
<Foolish mortal!> he heard. <You underestimate the gravity of the situation you placed yourself under!>
Finally able to maneuver out of the gas that nearly took the life out of his body, Kain only had an opportunity to face the vapor that nearly claimed his spirit as it's own before seeing a being emerge out of it's midst that he prayed to the heavens would not come to claim his life during his childhood.
He was immediately overpowered by the Malakite in question, him grabbing his throat and suspending him in the upper levels of the office room. Now knowing that a human was not responsible for the destruction of his home, Kain could only look in terror at the being responsible; the same being that he was told horror stories to, along with the other youths of old that misbehaved in the village.
"Oracle..."

The Malakite was pleased to know that the ninja knew of him. If his smile could widen more than it was already, it would have when Kain uttered his name.
"Yes," Oracle cooed. "It's pleasing to know that so many of you Tenmeigakure know my true self. You must have given your parents such problems for them to tell you the stories of me."
Oracle chuckled, looking away from the ninja in his grasp as his thoughts went elsewhere, yet still staying on the topic at hand.
"Tsurugi must have been the worst," he mentioned out loud purposely. "The way he looked when I showed him my true self only told me that he was told stories of me mostly every night before his youthful slumbers."
He slowly turned his head toward Kain to hopefully see if what he said accelerated any drive within him. He grinned a bit more maniacally, and laughed out loud in a rather subtle tone.
"I've never seen someone so helpless in my life..."

As Kain was forced to hear the villain's monologue, his emotions ran array with Oracle's mentioning of his clan leader Tsurugi; his mentioning of the late Tenmeigakure leader taking the form of an insult. And whereas he was enraged, he knew that his feeble tantrum stood no match for someone -- or something -- as strong as Oracle.
"You took everything from me," the silent assassin spoke, struggling to free himself from Oracle's grasp. "My home, my people, my reason for living. I have nothing; nothing to look forward to now. Only the cold hand of death. So however you plan to eliminate me, I beg you; make it quick."

If Oracle didn't know where he wanted to take this little interference, he honestly would have granted the human's request and killed him right then and there. But this man -- this assassin -- he was a card that this player needed in his hand to get this game started.
And he knew exactly how to get it, while eliminating a trump card at the same time.
"I assure you, Kain," Oracle told the assassin. "Everyone from the village minus a small handful of rebels are alive and well. They are here; living in their new dormitories complete with food, clean water and shelter. I am their new leader, and I alone shall do what Tsurugi wanted for the village in the first place."
Oracle lowered himself back to the ground, but still refused to release his hold from Kain's neck. However, with his free hand, Oracle swirled the particles of suffocating gas around with his index finger to gather in one place.
"It is true," Oracle continued. "I murdered your clan leader and had the village burned to the ground. I cannot be forgiven for such a sin. But you must ask yourself this, Kain. How did I know where to go? I had no information on the whereabouts of the Tenmeigakure; someone had to have told me. And who else to inform me of the village location than one of your own?"
Oracle's smile turned less sinister and more caring; false sincerity, but caring none the less.
"Would you like to know who really ended your way of life, Kain?"

Kain was confused. The Oracle he was told about in ghost stories was that of relentlessness and without mercy; he had expected himself to perish as soon as he saw his face. But apparently, the Oracle in reality was somewhat different from his fairy tale counterpart; letting him live for this long was testament enough.
He lowered them both to the ground as the mystic Malakite confessed to his crime against his way of life. But at the same time, he let the ninja know that in order for him to have done what he did, he had to have been informed of where the location was, and that person had to have been none other but a member of the village itself.
Frowning with anger underneath his mask, Kain thought on the possibilities of a village member selling out the location to the Malakite, finding it unbelievable to a certain degree. But by the revelation of finding out that a human being owning a corporation as big as this one was truly the Malakite of children's nightmares, news of this nature should not be so far fetched.
Kain stared into Oracle's eyes, his own burning with embers of vengeance and hatred as he heard the angel's question. And in response to the question, he did what anyone would have done with a sudden blood lust for vengeance.
He nodded.
"Yes," he responded. "I do."

Oracle continued to swirl the particles that were once Kain's sword around in the air via his Void magic. Once he heard the reply from the assassin that he wanted, Oracle granted him back his neck, releasing the hold he had on the ninja. He brought the particles in front of both himself and Kain, moving both his hands around the cloud.
The particles moved around in a circular manner as they started to solidify into an object. Once they were placed together, they formed a miniature version of a man that he met earlier. A man that he made sure had the best medical attention while under his care. A man that directly told him the location of the now destroyed village of the dawn.
Oracle smirked as he gazed upon the angered ninja; his hatred so putrid he could taste it in the air. And even though by the look in Kain's eyes, he knew who this man was. But just to make himself feel better by adding fuel to the fire, the Malakite decided to speak his name to seal the deal.
"The man you seek," Oracle started, "dissociated himself from your village for some time and personally gave me the information I needed to take control. I speak of none other than Seishuku Kensei."

Once Kain saw and heard the name Kensei spoken through Oracle's lips, his own anger flailed. Not only did he used to be associated with the village, but he was also a fellow member of the assassin class. For a short while, Kain tried to claim the information set before him as fake. But after an assuring look into Oracle's eyes, he knew that everything that was told of him was indeed fact.
Kain looked away from the miniature version of his equal now that he was graced with the possession of his neck again. At this point, he was loathing with anger; treading lightly in a sea of frustration and searching desperately for dry land. But he knew that as long as he had no outlet, the shore would never come.
He turned back toward the Malakite and grimaced. Not at the Malakite surprisingly, but at the idea of Kensei's treachery.
"What were his intentions for giving you this information?" Kain asked.

Just as Oracle expected, the assassin Kain took the bait. The ninja wanted justice; he didn't care how it was delivered, as long as it was done. Oracle smiled at this revelation before placing a look of seriousness in his eyes. Now that he had the gullible fish on his line, it was time to reel him in for the capture.
"Kensei's intentions were anything but for the greater good of the village, Kain," Oracle lied to the assassin. "As you know, Tsurugi and I had just made dealings for an allegiance with each other. Somehow Kensei got word of this and gave me the information needed for me to maneuver through the village undetected; his reasoning behind this being so that I may destroy the village and it's people indefinitely.
Oracle then reminisced on the day he met Kensei, using his racial ability during his slumber and before his life debt was declared. Glancing away for a few seconds to smirk in his own manipulative ways, he stared back at Kain with his face of seriousness once again.
"Kensei and the remains of the Tenmeigakure that left the village before my dealings with Tsurugi are rogues that wish to see the village suffer in any way possible," Oracle continued. "Kensei however wanted the entire village and it's inhabitants to be destroyed over how the death of his father was taken with a grain of salt. And with this as his motive, he gave me this information in hopes that I could accomplish what he couldn't; the extinction of the Tenmeigakure."
With another move of his hands, Oracle once again separated the particles that made up the small doppelganger of Kensei within his palms. As he stared at Kain, the particles once again started to maneuver in a circular motion.
"Seeing the evil in his thoughts however, I did not destroy the Tenmeigakure," Oracle continued his lie. "Instead, I had the village destroyed and had the inhabitants transferred here. And to make Kensei believe that I fulfilled my end of the bargain, I killed Tsurugi and the head guards of the village, including their families. He has no knowledge that the Tenmeigakure still exists or that they are under my care." He smirked. "You see? I am not the villain you expected of me to be, am I?"
Soon the particles formed into an elongated shaft until Oracle used his void magic to reformat Kain's katana, holding it in his right hand.
"Kensei and his band must be eliminated in order for the Tenmeigakure to thrive as Tsurugi wanted it to," Oracle told Kain. "If Kensei knows that I am housing the villagers, then he will know that I did not keep my end of the bargain and come back to destroy them. Because of this, I have re-established the Tenmeigakure bylaws and reformed them from a village to an organization. I now call them 'New Babylon.' And they will be trained to stand up against terrorists like Seishuku Kensei on a grander scale. But you; I believe that you want Kensei to yourself, am I correct?"
Oracle then placed Kain's sword in front of him, holding it by it's sheath in a horizontal position. He continued to stare at the ninja, this time with an emotionless look in his eye.
"You may take your weapon back," Oracle stated. "But before you strike me down with it, just think for a moment. Who deserves to be cut down by your blade of vengeance more? The person who did what he did to make sure an entire way of life would live on, or the person who will stop at nothing to see that way of life become extinct, never to be seen again?"

Kain had no idea that the death of his father would transform him into the monster that he was today. To eliminate an entire civilization was no excuse for the inaction of justice. Angered at what the Oracle had told him, Kain started to feel his hatred and vengeance fuel his determination. But what he was not expecting was the return of his blade.
As the Oracle went on to state after giving the ninja his katana back, he brought up two valid points. He could kill the Malakite to enact the injustice brought upon Tsurugi, the head guards and their families. But in his defense, sacrifices must be made to ensure the survival of a species or a way of life. And that is what Oracle had done. Kensei, however, was aiming for the entire extinction of the village and was the real villain in this tale.
Trying to determine Oracle's statements for himself, Kain slowly started to unsheathe his sword. He stared at the cold steel the blade made available and stared at his reflection. He noticed his eyes; dark and determined. They were corrupted by the odd mixture of justice and vengeance. Justice for the crime committed against his people and vengeance for what was committed against himself. He took his eyes off of his blade and gazed into Oracle's own, now knowing what to do.
With a mighty thrust, Kain sheathed his sword and placed it behind his back once again. Standing attentively, he faced Oracle with a new kind of respect as he asked the four-worded question that would start him on the road to true justice.
"What must I do?"

He had him.
Oracle could only loathe in his success by smiling. Outwardly, it would seem that he was glad Kain made the decision to spare his life. But inwardly, not only did he know the ninja would spare him, but he was counting on his manipulation to alter and corrupt his mind to the point where he could now bend him to his every will.
And he did.
"Commit yourself to me," Oracle answered the assassin's question. "Become an Ai of New Babylon and help me serve true justice to a starving world. Then and only then will you find yourself ready to eliminate the corruption that is Seishuku Kensei."

Kain nodded in response to Oracle's ultimatum, finding it the only way to right the wrong that was Kensei's treachery in his current train of thought. Placing his sheathed sword in front of him, Kain bowed on one knee and lowered his head, preparing his declaration to the Malakite.
"I commit myself fully to your works and your way," the ninja stated, "to become an Ai of New Babylon."
Kain raised his sights on the Oracle soon after, keeping himself in his humbled position. The vengeance in his eye was no longer toward the Malakite; it was toward Kensei and whoever now stood opposed to both New Babylon and the Zaihou. Secretly starting to get impatient, Kain asked the Oracle a question that would start him on this new road of transitions.
"What is your will for me, my lord?"

Once Oracle heard and observed Kain's declaration to New Babylon, his grin widened. Satisfied, Oracle converted back into his Markus Bleache' guise and sat behind his office desk. Once Kain asked him what he wanted him to do first, Oracle rested his chin in his hand as he crossed his legs.
"Every member of the Tenmeigakure that has not taken refuge within Skylight Industries is now deemed a traitor and a terrorist to the corporation, the organization and the world," Oracle said. "None must be left alive. I will leave the finding and destroying of Kensei a task for yourself, Kain. I believe you have earned it."
Oracle sat up straight in his chair, clasping his fingers together. "You will act as my personal Ai," he stated. "I want you attached to my shadow at all times unless I state otherwise, understand?"

The plan was simple enough for the newest member of New Babylon. The newly appointed Ai was told that every member of the Tenmeigakure that has not participated in the transition to become New Babylon were to be destroyed and not to be trusted. He agreed with Oracle completely and found it an honor to be assigned the one to end Kensei's life personally. He would take great delight in eliminating the head of the Tenmeigakure rogues.
Once he was told that he was to be attached to Oracle's shadow unless otherwise stated, he nodded and bowed in understanding. Raising himself up, he folded his arms.
"I understand completely, my lord," Kain stated.

Oracle gladdened himself in hearing Kain's cooperation, knowing that he could control this human so easliy. His grin went to a more gleeful look than maniacal to he could keep his new lap-dog under control; he showed signs of loyalty, but wasn't entirely housebroken yet. It would take a lot more than pretty words and false aspirations to dominate this human and keep him on his leash.
"Good," Oracle applauded at Kain's understanding of the situation. "Once the rogues are eliminated, both Skylight Industries and New Babylon shall rule this world entirely." Oracle's smile then became subtle and caring as he looked at the newest Ai of New Babylon.
"Then," he continued, "we will have justice."
