Mimiko wasn't sure what to think as she made her way to the cathedral. Damage to the physical structure had been repaired--it was the emotional damage that lingered.
She had yet to get over it.
Various Kyrum hoarded themselves around her as she nostalgically touched the closed doors. Most of them wanted to know when the location was going to be operational again. Truth be told, although the building was mostly intact it was the cleansing that was taking the longest. The flood of chaos magic and the redirection of newly formed sprites to other locations was a handful. She found herself answering listlessly; the building was scheduled to be re-opened tomorrow.
Mimiko was here early, to look at the work that had been done inside. After answering the same question about ten times she opened the doors, trying to give the upright surrounding her the least amount of it to view as possible. I wasn't as though they had never been inside of the building in any case; she supposed that they figured that they building was going to be remodeled. But the King liked things the way that had been in this building before the massacre, and in honor of those who were slain, she had been loathe to demand a change other than in external guard possibilities.
As she entered the cathedral, she found that it was very much looking like it used to. Moving to the right, she found her way to the receptionist desk and took a seat in the chair behind it. She could see the entire floor from here. It was familiar and comforting. She sighed, not quite happily but not in sadness either.
She had always liked the idea of cathedrals. They stood tall, majestic, and they showed a strength of devoutness that gathered and rallied people together. It was a symbol of power and devotion to Heaven and its goals as a nation. That was what Mimiko stood for, and therefore, her capital. It was what she personally represented with her life.
The massacre had seriously injured her philosophy. Many people in the second layer were still finding it difficult to not be afraid of another attack despite her, Tsubasa and Gin's attempts to soothe the fears of the people. Since then, things have definitely calmed down, but the fact of the matter was that Mimiko herself was still shaken deeply by the incident. If only she had been there to make a difference, to stop it all from happening.
