Lihat found himself once more in the familiar silence of his apartment, the world swirling around his unseeing eyes. His mind and body roused to waking and his vision cleared from the terror of the school festival. He’d never been truly forced to accept his blindness, he could always function with his eyes . It was a horrible experience to be blocked from not only his eyes but from his extra sight. There was a horrible tear in his pride that could not simply be weeded out. He knew full well that the cause was some kind of sensory overload. There had been something there that was entirely too much to be seen by his undeveloped eyes. Lihat felt a cold bitterness and there was nothing he could currently do about it. Just beneath it was a feeling of pain; his sightlessness bred a feeling of helplessness in him he’d never had before. Never again Lihat vowed silently to never accept himself as weak and powerless.
There was a sound in the next room that caused Lihat to jump to an upright position. He realized he was in his bed and that he wasn’t sure how he’d got here. He felt the cold cloth folded beside him and figured it must have fallen from his head. It perked his curiosity to look into the eyes ahead to find his room tidy and his home the same. There was naturally no illumination and his door was bolted and locked, which was actually uncommon for him. He watched the person who was soon to enter his room and realized it was Kana. The reason he’d been at the theater in the first place was because of a stupid bet. Lihat didn’t much enjoy the randomness Kana seemed to bring around her, even if she was growing on him a bit. Lihat calmed down and scooted back to place his back on the headboard of his western style bed. The door opened and the light switch was flipped, casting the cool backlights on the room. Kana walked in with a bowl which was likely full of water only to notice that Lihat was sitting up and smiling in her direction and drop what she was carrying.
The overly happy female launched herself headlong across the bed and embraced Lihat with tears welling up in her eyes. “Oh L I didn’t know when you would wake up. When I opened the door you yelled and started bubbling up, then you started shaking and shivering and passed out. I was so scared and when you started trembling and talking in you sleep and..” Kana would have rambled on with her worries but Lihat put a finger to her lips.
“I already know Kana, it’s okay. I’m fine now and I understand,” Lihat made his attempt to console her from her struggles. Kana simply shook her head.
“No, no you don’t understand, I’ve been watching over you for seven days now, you have no idea. I was so worried I thought it was my fault since you don’t show your face and you don’t speak to people and stuff. I wouldn’t know what to do if you hadn’t woke up,” Kana said, now a bit more calmly but still with an authoritative urgency that only she could pull off.
“Seven days?”
“Yes, seven whole damned days, I haven’t been to school or anything cuz you seem so frail in your sleep…” she flushed, Kana realized shed confessed to watching him sleep. Lihat on the other hand simply took it as her watching over him because he seemed sick.
“Thank you Kana, I’d be in a world of trouble without you,” Lihat cooed softly, his thanks was heartfelt and real. He didn’t know what would have happened at all without her getting him here safely, but it wouldn’t have been all too good. “How’s about we head to school, we have a lot of homework to do. I think Mrs. Yamazaki has a project she assigns today.”
Kana nodded in agreement and got off the bed, “I’ll get your clothes.” She winked with a giggle and ran out to the laundry room. Lihat blinked twice before it set in an he looked down at his bare body, then lifted the comforter.
”Are you FUCKING SERIOUS?!?”
