The Angelic Race possesses seven choirs, or seven subspecies of Angels., each with their own abilities and attributes. The Seventh Choir of Angels are the Seraphim (singular: Seraph). They resonate Truth, and are therefore the ultimate form of judgment in Heaven; they can tell a truth from a lie as easily as they can see day, as well as who the truth effects, who the truth is meant to be told to and who it would have a negative effect on. They are mostly known by their wings, which are the brightest in Heaven and have almost a golden hue as though to represent their trustworthiness. Usually, their personalities are described as calm and collected. When first created, they were the least likely to step a foot in the Mortal Realm; however, times have changed and even this group, who is sometimes haughty, can be seen taking care of business there. The Fallen Seraphim are the Balseraphim.

The Sixth choir of Angels are the Cherubim (singular: Cherub). They resonate Devotion. Because of this, their racial gift is being able to attune themselves to any one object or person at one given time. While they are attuned to the object/person, they it tell where it is, what it is doing, if it needs anything or if it is hurt. Cherubim can also completely heal whatever object it is attuned to. Because of their sensitivity, they are known as the sweetest and most caring choir. Cherubim aren't known for wings--some have the natural ability to defy the normal levels of gravity in all the Realms--not all have them. Cherubim are known for their kindness above all, and their physical features usually include animalistic qualities such as tails, ears and claws. A small number possess both wings and animalistic features. The Cherubim's job in the Mortal Realm is to guard objects deemed sacred by the Humans. With the Humans' waning belief in the power of magic, however, there are fewer Cherubim working in the Mortal Realms, pitching in with other Heavenly duties instead. Some of them even "stalk" humans, looking for the smallest hint of someone to serve and something to protect. Fallen Cherubim are called Djinn.

The Fifth Choir of Angels are the Archangels (singular: Archangel). They resonate Willpower. This race's ability is the force of good luck, which provides well in battle. They have the ability to turn an equal setting to their favor; they are also natural adept at most tasks--they are versatile and useful at anything they try. Because of their power of will, the Archangels do not have physical wings--which gives them the ability to make their wings appear at will. This can also be used to temporarily take control over minor animals, which they can use to do their bidding. The Archangel's role on Earth was to set events into motion. Whenever Mortals were taking too long to progress thorough a transition in power, or when they were warring so harshly that the Realm itself was in danger of being destroyed, the Shijin would have Archangels set chain events in motion to turn the tide of a battle, to begin political unrest; something that would help decide a definite victor. Because of this, Archangels are the race of Angel that truly dislike Humans the most, as they have been able to see them damage themselves firsthand. They are also the most open about how they feel about things in the Mortal Realm. Most Archangels consider humans unworthy of anything that the Shijin have ever given to them. Fallen Archangels are called the Demiangels.

The Fourth choir of Angels are the Elohim (singular: Elohite). They are Heaven's judgment for other life forms, and as such they represent Balance. This is the choir of Angels that judges the spirits of all those who pass through the Spirit Realm, and catalogue the past lives of each soul as well as use those records to determine the being's lifeform in the next life. Their racial ability is to relieve spirits and willing beings of their emotion so that they can judge things clearly. Because of this job, they are emotionless; Elohim cannot feel any emotion. This is why they are trusted with the job of judging souls. Elohim are known for their wings, like the Seraphim, though theirs are substantially different: Elohim carry three sets of wings (which would be six wings total). They are also known for their objectivity. Because they are emotionless, they are not known to do anything much more than work, which is taken well in Heaven because of the number of souls that wait in the Spirit World. When created, they did not care enough to go to the Mortal Realm. However, because of their emotionless natures, they are not opposed to going when needed. The Fallen Elohim are the Habbim.

The Third choir of Angels are the Malakim (singular: Malakite). These are the warriors of Heaven, Angels who are born to be trained for combat. They resonate Honor, which allows them to see the bravest, most honorable deed of a being, as well as their least honorable and why each act was committed. They are the only race of Angels who can boast of not having a single Fallen member. They are known as the cocky sort of creature, constantly looking for ways to become stronger; they are described as deadly to a fault and very haughty. Surprisingly, they are the technologically based choir of Heaven, and many Malakim are scholars who try to find new ways of boosting the power of Heaven enough to defeat Hell. Malakim have wings of Fire, and are the only choir of Angels to have wings of this fashion. However, the flame color varies according to the Angel's personality, mood, and some times power level. The Malakim have not changed their duties in Heaven at all; and because not a single member has Fallen, they can say that most have not traveled to the Mortal Realm. They have been known to appear in battles where the Shijin had once pre-determined the victor--but no more, as the Malakim currently deem most Mortal battles unworthy of their presence or aid. The opposite of the Malakim in Hell (as they do not Fall) are the Lillum.

The Second choir of Angels are the Kyrum. They are the most mysterious race of Heaven in that they were not created with physical bodies--they must create the illusion of one. They are little more than walking spirits with wings. They were used to bond physically with Mortal during times when they needed great strength. The resonate Fluidity. This is due to their powers as well as their ability to inhabit another being's body. This ability doesn't work as well when the vessel isn't willing, and when there is internal struggle, physical anomalies appear in the vessel's body (such as strange eye color, vericose veins and abnormal marks on the skin). When willing, the Kyrum take over the body completely but can speak to the body's consciousness internally. They are seen in the Mortal Realm all the time, looking for a body who is willing to bond with them. This was not a beginning practice; however, after the creation of Hell, several Kyrum were exiled from Heaven from becoming addicted to having a physical form; they were taking bodies from Mortals by force--in recent times Heaven has contemplated exiling the entire choir. The Fallen Kyrum are the Shedim.

The First choir of Angels are the Mercurim (singular: Mercurian). They are the messengers, those who send the messages back and forth from Heaven to the Mortal Realms and other Realms as well. They resonate Communication. The more you speak to them, the more they learn about you. For example, when you say 'hello', they know your name, and by 'how are you doing? I'm fine', they probably already know your house, your family member's names and where they all live. However, the type of information that they can discover is limited to what you tell them and how. Common greetings give them access to surface facts. Deeper conversation gives them an access to your emotional feelings and how you choose to express them. They are famous on Earth for their stark white wings, the typical wings of lore that are used when representing Angels in media in that realm. They are the talkers in Heaven, the Angels with the gift of gab, and most of them don't know when to stop talking. The Fallen Mercurim are the Impudim.

The Eighth Choir of Angels, called the Paladim (singular: Paladian), used to reside in Heaven. They resonated Love, an emotion that was emerging in Humans at the time that these Angels were being made. Love had been discovered, in its own time, to give Humans motivation when all seemed lost, and the Shijin were curious as to how this would play out if their race of Angels were ever threatened by extinction. Whether or not the Shijin planned to test this was unknown. However, the Paladim loved everything within reason, including Humans, whom the rest of Heaven despised, and after so closely interacting with Humans they were considered corrupted and were exiled as a whole from Heaven. They were the first race created by the Shijin to persecute their own kind. Human self-persecution didn't come until later on in the civilization's life. As a race, the Paladim supposedly had the power to connect with one living being, and become one with it. Like the Cherubim, they would attune themselves, but their magic was not so limited. Over time, as they interacted with Human, the developed the ability to even extend the lives of Humans by sharing lifeforce. They were distinguished in Heaven by fraction of their race that sported decidedly red or pinkish wings that were smaller than average. Those who do not have this color had white wings, coupled with other reddish qualities, such as hair and eyes. The only choir with wings of this hue, and are the only other choir that had the ability to hide their wings as an innate ability, without the aid of external magic, besides the Archangels. After leaving Heaven, however, their powers have waned--having been separated from their Realm of origin for so long. It is no longer known what power they still hold, but is not accessed in Heaven or Hell to be very much. Because they have lived in the Mortal Realm for so long, their powers are very sparse. Recently, some Paladim have been seen taking refuge in the first layer of Hell. As they were not a part of Heaven when Hell was created, there are no Fallen Paladim, if Upright ones exist at all. The spawn of Paladim and Humans are called "Knights", and they are compared to Choirless if anything because of the lack of power that they have. Some are able to retain their resonance of love, and still behave in part as guardian angels.

The title choirless "angel" is a bit misleading--a few different things can designate a Celestial as a Choirless. A Celestial that has been away from Heaven or Hell for so long that they lose the usage of their racial abilties is labeled a choirless--in the case of Malakim, that includes losing one's wings, as theirs are generated of pure fire.
A Choirless Angel is also a Celestial that has abandoned Heaven but not Fallen to Hell. A Celestial that does not know what side it wants to be on or rejects both sides of the spectrum of their beings becomes a Choirless Angel.
Other characteristics of Choirless include faded, grey wings and grey or white eyes.
