The Mortals, not too keen on using the heavily based Elemental magic so barred from them because of abuse in the past, have created their own kind of magic consisting of using the power of something that they have had for centuries; the power of their own words.
Called Sacre Mot--literally, "sacred word"--it can still utilize the power of elements, it is not through the direct contact with a sprite or elemtnal spirit, which presents itself as a safer option for magic that does not involve a life-risking journey to find a spirit that may not accept you as it's master.
In this system of magic, it is the usage of vocabulary that decides the victor--describing your attacks and defense with fluidity, and without flaw so that their oppoent cannot counter.
As it stands, this type of magic is forbidden in Heaven due to it's connection to Mortals.
However, any creature or being heavily influenced by direct contact/connection to an Elemental Spirit finds it very difficult to become proficient in using such magic. Therefore Celestials do not typically acknowledge it as a type of magic, in any case.

Sacre Mot is a type of spellcasting that is very dependent on the wielder's vocabulary. It was originally the type of magic that Humans used to harness the power of the Ruling Elemental Spirits because Mortal creatures tended to become altered by the high concentration of magic contained in the spirits. In a sense, they are able to manipulate the Ruling Spirits' essence. As stated before, this type of magic is controlled by the usage of language in a phrase that beseeches the spirit of a particular element and builds the energy through phrases that pose as a sort of incantation. Usually the phrase consists of two parts: the literal reference to the element at hand, and a description of its usage. Therefore, a typical water spell for example would sound something like this: - Example 1:
Dew Drops, gather and shower the earth with life from the Heavens.
The first part, the literally reference to the element at hand would be : Dew DropsThe last clause, gather and shower the earth with life from the HeavensClearly, this is a minor water spell for rain, and healing rain at that considering the portion of the spell that mentioned life. This spell was probably used to heal a large area of soliders weary from battle. - Example 2: This will be an offensive water spell.
Rain, pelt mine enemy with your bounty!
This is a basic spell. Rain is the reference to the water element. Pelting is the action, which is effective but rather weak. Sacre Mot spells can build power by the use of words with a more forceful meaning. To make the spell we just dissected more powerful, we'll use "flood" instead of "pelt". - Rain, flood mine enemy with your bounty!
Another way to compound magical power in a spell would be to use repetitive words that reiterate the power that you are using. By adding more powerful references to the element you summon more power. So, we end up with: - Tide! Torrent! Rain! Flood mine enemy with your bounty!
This can be arranged with an array of instructions and words, so just remember that this type of magic isn't for those who have a small vocabulary.
