The dragons are creatures that are not products of Shijin creation, and therefore the same laws and rules do not apply to their use of magic. The dragons themselves are comprised of the spiritual energy of their creator Dai-gon, who created the Bestial Dragons, from which all current dragons are descended from. These Bestial Dragons contained copious amounts of spirit energy, and upon entering the different Realms during The Great Journey. This was the event in which the Shijin allowed many dragons to enter the realms they created to view the interaction between the seemingly alien Dragons, and creatures of their own design. Because of the dragon’s alien make-up when interacting with the foreign environment, it was discovered that the dragon’s physical forms and magical powers were automatically conformed to safely interact with the environment, and prevent them from causing total mass distortions to reality. This included the specifications on Draconic magic that would be inherited by all those of draconic lineage. The basis of these powers derive from the dragon’s innate ability to emulate the natural elements of the Shijin created universe based off of these following criteria:

- Personality; the personality and demeanor of the dragon has the strongest influence on which element its physical form will come attuned to, naturally emulating the element with various differences in use, control, and detail (draconic magic is not based off of the attribute system of Shijin magic, it is a close facsimile of what the dragon’s body perceives the element to be in conjecture with the temperament of the dragon). Dragons can only have one element, as anymore will result in the destruction of the dragons body, and spirit from the imbalance of more than one element that defining its nature, resulting in a fissure of body and spirit, which dragons must possess both to exist outside of the Mythical Realm. Taking on the element of another would drastically change the personality of the dragon, as well as reduce their proficiency to base levels, regardless of age, if the dragon survives the changing process at all.
- Age; a dragons age is directly proportional to it’s power, over time as the dragon grows older, its attunement to the element of emulation grows stronger, as does their connection to the Mythical Realm, which is the source of all draconic power. Along with age come knowledge, skill, and proficiency of magical ability, this may vary depending on the experiences of a dragon in its life in and outside of the Mythical Realm. The oldest dragons would be the Bestial Dragons (who are only in Kiseki in an NPC function), followed by their descendants, whose ages vary, the eldest of them ranging up to 3000-4000 (2000 for Kiseki characters)
- Range; where as the dragons naturally emulate the elements of the given universe, this does not come without restriction. Because dragon magic is based off emulation, it is the magical representation of what the dragon personal perceives its nature to be, a near equivalent of the truest form of the element. With that said, draconic magic is only as powerful as the real element itself, and in no way, shape, or form could a dragon’s magic become more powerful than the ruling elemental spirits, the basis of the elements within the Shijin Universe. A dragons magic can become very powerful, but it can only hope to match and not surpass the very nature of the powers that it emulates. Not being based of the attribute system of Shijin magic allows for dragon’s to use their magic in a variety of way, as long as it resides in the general parameters of the given element. This translates to a dragon can manipulate the element outside of Shijin attribute system, but cannot change the element to do things outside of practicality, an example of this would be fire cannot freeze someone, as cold is not conducive to fire and heat.
