Complete Timeline of Events in Kiseki-verse history
(Before Fall)
(Before Fall)
The terms b.f. and a.f. signify the celestial timeline and refer to 'before fall' and 'after fall', as the Zero Point in the celestial calendar is the point at which Sanada Tomoyo fell from heaven and created the realm of hell.
The terms b.c. and a.d. signify the mortal time line and retain the meaning that they possess in the Gregorian calendar with the Zero Point being the rise and fall of Jesus Christ.
*If there is not a thread listed for the dates below, that means that the actions being described can be found in either the Overview of the Plot, or in the History posts for many of the Realms that are located elsewhere in the Archives.
**It also needs to be noted for understanding that Celestials are categorized by age into Generations. This term is used loosely, and what generation a Celestial is depends on what events occured during their lifetime. These will be labeled specifically and in bold for easy understanding.
150,000 b.f. (75,000 b.c)- Four Gods create universe beginning with the realm of time and the Mortal Realm.
148,000 b.f. (74,000 b.c.)- The Shijin create a mass of sentient beings to inhabit the mortal realm. These include beings belonging to the classical definition of the 'animal kingdom'.
145,000 b.f. (72,500 b.c.)- Kouryuu's proposed idea for the Human is denied by the other Shijin; as an alternative, creatures of half animal, half Human structure are designed (centaurs, mermaids, youkai, etc.)
143,000 b.f. (71,500 b.c.) - With populations in the mortal realm reaching capacity, the Shijin implement the cycle of life-death, giving all inhabitants of the realm a limited life cycle. Becoming too busy to deal with the governing of the entire mortal realm themselves, the Shijin created the 18 elemental spirits, representatives of things already present in the mortal realm given corporeal form and sentient thought to act as their envoys where they could not.
135,000 b.f. (67,500 b.c.) - Regardless of Suzaku's earlier objections on the matter, the rest of the Shijin agree to Kouryuu's suggestion of creating beings that are capable of exhibiting more free will than the animals of instinct, and can interact with the elemental spirits, the world around them and the Shijin themselves.
132,000 b.f. (66,000 b.c.)- The Shijin, who can observe the mind and body of their creations, begin to notice the formation of thoughts of Humans when they slept; things that they liked, things they didn't, things that they wished were real. This spawned the creation of the Dream Realm.
128,000 b.f. (64,000 b.c)- As a precaution to eliminate the possibility of having their own creations aspire to study them or challenge them, as well as to remove a likeness of themselves from their creations, Death--the loss of life--is introduced to the Mortal Realm. General life limitations are given to all races in the Mortal Realm at that time, and thereafter, with the Elemental Spirits being the only exception.
124,000 b.f. (62,000 b.c)- The Shijin begin to notice yet another development in the Mortal Realm--the essence of those who passed away begin to gather and manifest in portions of the world--some strong enough to physically affect things--and Kouryuu creates a Realm for those essences, called spirits, to go. With the creation of the Spirit Realm, guardians Anubis and Fenrir are also given the task of overseeing the Realm's protection, and upkeep.
123,000 b.f. (61,500 b.c.)- with the creatures they originally created dying, the Spirit Realm becomes quickly packed. To help remedy this, the Shijin implement the reincarnation cycle, a process meant not only to re-use already very lively spirits for other life cycles, but so that a soul or spirit can gain knowledge through perpetual life cycles. While the body does not remember it's past lives, the soul does. The Shijin are interested in seeing how this will affect life in the Mortal Realm.
63,000 b.f. (31,500 b.c.)- this is when the Dragons come to reveal themselves to the Shijin, claiming to be of a different type of magic than everything the Shijin has already made and helped survive up to this point--creatures not made by and not dependent on the Shijin at all.. Made from the latent energies of the Shijin, those forces formed a Realm and creatures to inhabit it. The Shijin let the Dragons explore the Mortal, Dream and Spirit Realms. In return, the Dragons allowed the creations of the Shijin to visit their Realm, but not the Shijin themselves. Dragons interacting with the Realms of the changed things drastically, including weather patterns, magical effects, and in part some races as a whole.
60,000 b.f. (30,000 b.c.)- the Shijin grow bored of the changes that the Dragons brought to their realm, and begin spreading their attentions elsewhere, creating a Realm for the Elemental Spirits. each with their own territory in it. The Humans and other creatures of the Mortal Realm were allowed to visit this Realm to call upon the spirits for aid.
50,000 b.f. (25,000 b.c.)- Humans begin to misuse the power of the Elemental Spirits, wreaking havoc amongst themselves and the other races that reside in the Realm with them. Growing bored of dealing with disputes and solving problems, the Shijin create the first Celestials, eight beings that represent the things that they want to perpetuate in their Realm: Love, Truth, Devotion, Willpower, Balance, Honor, Fludity and Communication. These beings deal with the disputes in their place.
49,000 b.f. (24,500 b.c.)- After a one thousand year trial, the eight beings confided to the Shijin that they loved staying in the Mortal Realm, even if they were only there to settle disputes. The Shijin were not happy with their decision, but allowed them to remain there for the time being in respect for their decision. Rather than continue doing the Shijin's task, they were integrated into the daily process of the realm, such as transitions in daylight to moon light, weather changes, etc. Their names work in relation to their jobs: Miraitsu, Asakou Nikokou, Atsuitsu, Samuikou, Tsukitsu, Yorutsu, and Yumekou. With these being in place to help regulate the Realm, the Elemental Spirit took that opportunity to leave their Realm, using their combined power to destroy the doors and bar entry of any corporeal form. They then hid in the Mortal Realm.
45,000 b.f. (22,500 b.c.)- Since the creation of the prototype Celestials, the Mortal Realm has only gotten worse. With Humans finding and using the magic of the elements to hunt and even kill the other creatures in their Realm to expand their own race, even the Dragons, an unassociated race, sees reason for concern. With other races in the Mortal Realm dying out, the Shijin allow the first Celestials to escort those willing from what remained of the races to the Draconic Realm. This event as well as the massacres and deaths that led up to the removal of most non-Human creatures from the Mortal Realm is known as the Great Hunt.
38,000 b.f. (19,000 b.c.)- In an attempt to understand why Humans had grown the potential to do something like the Great Hunt, the Shijin conduct an experiment that gives spiritual life to the most prevalent emotions in the Mortal Realm. They are known as the six Seirei, and they are the personification of Love, Justice, Terror, Wrath, Courage and Mischief. They are called the Seirei
5,000 b.f. (2,500 b.c.)- After millennia of peace, and the Realms falling into place, the Shijin begin plotting the creation of a different race, one that will allow them to no longer have to look over the Humans themselves to discourage the calamity that they seemed to always bring to other races.
4,000 b.f. (2,000 b.c.)- The Shijin create another Realm, called the Celestial Realm, the place where their new race, the perfected Celestial race, would call their home. These beings would interact with Humans based off of the knowledge that they had gathered from the Seirei, so that these Celestials are less likely to end up like Humans and stick to their jobs. This Realm is composed of eight layers, each above the other.
3,000 b.f. (1,500 b.c.)- After two millennia of planning and making accommodations, the Shijin create multiple Celestials from each group. Separating them into eight races, each with different strengths and natural abilities, the Shijin moved them into what would be their home. Still resonating the eight properties that the prototype Celestials did, they were instructed as to their duties both in their own society and in Mortal Realm. [You can read this information here.] THIS IS GENERALLY WHEN THE PARENT-GENERATION ANGELS WERE CREATED
2,500 b.f. (1,250 b.c.)- The Shijin decide that the hierarchy of the Realm should be from the top layer of Heaven down, the highest choir being the rulers and guardians of them all. By this time, the "Parent generations" of Celestials have produced children. Genbu begins to have visions about these descendants ruling over the Layers, and the gods begin a competition of sorts, each choosing eight children--one from each layer--to train for the possibility of ruling their respective layers. THIS IS GENERALLY WHEN THE FIRST-GENERATION OF ANGELS BEGAN.
2,499 b.f. (1249 b.c.)- The Angel Celsus Principium is charged with making sure that the Kings-in-training are safe when the Shijin aren't training them. This is done both as a precaution to those training as well as a way to keep Celsus occupied, as he typically wreaks havoc in the Mortal Realm when he needs to be amused.
2,000 b.f. (1,000 b.c.)- After having 500 years to train their proteges, the Shijin hold a grand competition to determine who is the most fit to wear the crowns of Heaven. It is at this time the Original Kings are crowned [in order of descending layers]: Mikage Soramu (Ai-ou), Sanada Tomoyo (Hikari-ou), Ryo Fi (Genkaku-ou), Yamazaki Chikara (Ho'en-ou), Shirogane Yamashiro (Goshou-ou), Aizawa Sasuke (Yurei-ou), Arima Atoshi (Ken-ou), Hanajima Satori[/b] (Tane-ou). Three of these Kings merely hold places of kingship for their relatives who have yet to be born, having been foretold by Genbu that they would be king when the new children came of age.
1,999 b.f. (999 b.c.)- The Shijin decree that they Kings are only allowed to create offspring with one another, if not someone of high rank from their own layer. This will preserve what the Shijin perceive to be royal, Shijin-ordained blood. Yamazaki Chikara, the King of the fifth layer of Heaven, steps down from her throne because of her feelings for Takaishi Jiishita[/b], who lost to Aizawa Sasuke when fighting for the throne of the third of Heaven. When the Shijin attempt to force her to take the throne despite her feelings, she and Jiishita leave Heaven for the Mortal Realm by choice. She is replaced by the runner up in the competition for the throne, Mikage Tsubasa.
- This is also the year that the Shijin sentence Celsus to become the personification of death to atone for the lives he had taken from the Mortal Realm. As part of his job, he is not allowed to kill any member of a race whose soul returns back to the Spirit Realm.
1920 b.f. (960 b.c.)- A Seirei, the Spirit of Love, is awakened as a Paladim of Heaven. (Cupid)
1,750 b.f (875 b.c.)- Hanajima Osaka, Arima Inu, and Shirogane Setsuna are born. Prophesized by the the Shijin to be the Kings of their layers, as soon as they are old enough they will begin training for their Kingship, which their relatives fought hard to obtain for them.
1,500 b.f. (750 b.c.)- The Paladim are denounced by the paranoid Shijin, who convict them of spending too much time with the Humans and thusly adapting too many of their ways. It is at this time that the Shijin realize that they want to keep Celestials as separate from Mortals as possible, and they instate the following The Rules of Carnality the keep them in check from the temptations that they may run into working to service Humans in the Mortal Realm so as to prevent another Great Hunt. There are other rules added in addition to these that were part of the culture itself rather than official rules.
1,350 b.f. (675 b.c.)- Introduced all at the same time, even at a young age, Hanajima Osaka, Arima Inu, and Shirogane Setsuna take the place of their relatives on the thrones of Heaven.
1,300 b.f. (650 b.c.)- The Shijin retreat unto themselves, leaving Heaven to govern itself now that there are the appropriate Kings in place. Their influence on the society begins to wane.
1,000 b.f. (500 b.c.)- After private campaigns with the other Kings, Mikage Tsubasa and the other rulers of Heaven launch an outright attack against the Shijin, imprisoning them in a location known only to those kings who participated in the attack. THIS IS GENERALLY WHEN THE SECOND-GENERATION BEGAN
990 b.f. (495 b.c.)- After reigning as the Ha-ou of the Heavens for over a thousand years, Sanada Tomoyo decides to take on an apprentice to name as her successor in an attempt to undermine Tsubasa's hints at usurption: Miyazawa Chiyo.
0 a.f. (0 a.d.) Hikari-ou Sanada Tomoyo is accused of violating one of the Shijin's rules and is held to trial. She is found guilty after having no refutation for the charges against her, and she is cast down from Heaven after being physically punished.
