There are only three official races recognized in the Dream realm aside from those creatures and beasts that are simply formed from the essence of Dream that the Realm is engulfed in:
Fae
Fae (singular: Faerie) are born from the dreams of Humans, and so the two realms are always intertwined. Shaped and given a physical form by the power of the concentrated Dream magic that exists in the Realm--known as the "Essence" of a Faerie--they usually personify whatever dream that they were birthed from. They come in a different variety of sizes and features.
However, reproduction does exist among Fae, for their exist and live in a manner likewise to Humans. Fae born from a union between parents usually inherit attributes begotten from the dreams that form both parents, sometimes one more than the other. At times, elements of the dream that formed a parent that didn't show up in a parent's personality will still be passed down to the child. Fae typically live naturally for about 600 or 700 years.
Because they are intertwined with the lives of Humans so deeply, Fae engage in habits such as eating and sleeping. Fae food--which is crafted after the foods seen in most Humans dreams--is engineered entirely from the Dream energy that surrounds them, and can substantially heal or fix any injuries including broken bones by filling blemish with the very essence that the Fae are made of. Human food does not sustain them as much, but if they need a quick snack, or something to keep them going just a little longer, Fae can survive on it. It would take a copious amount of Mortal food to sustain a Fae, where only one meal in the Dream Realm would normally suffice.
Fae use magic and interact with it in a variety of ways. The most famous is Faerie Dust, a substance with magical properties that is produced by the released of large amounts of Dream element from different portions of the Faerie anatomy. Another way that Fae interact with magic is through the Mortal Realm. Certain Fae with high concentration of magic in their blood can dreamwalk, a skill that allows one to travel into the dreams of sleeping Humans.
Also, they can travel to areas in the Mortal Realm--if they use concentrated magic--to travel to the places that may have been featured in the dreams that they or their parents were born from. There are places of peace and nature that have strong connections to the Dream Realm as well, such as a specific pond, forest, or mountain, that may be a gathering place for those who would visit there.
While they exist in the Dream Realm, dreams are always subject to change in vision, emotion, etc. Fae are victim to this as well, and are easily manipulated by changes in their own Realm. This is why the leader and Queen of the Fae works hard with her own substantial magic to keep the Realm as stable as possible for those residing there.
Because of the way that they were crafted by the Shijin, the Fae can visit any Realm with ease beside the Mortal. To travel to a Mortal Realm requires a physical form through the process of the Faerie using magic to literally insert itself into Reality. It takes many years of learning and much power to do this, and many Fae take it upon themselves to make deals with visitors for the power to do so.
If a Faerie dies in its Human or physical form, its Essence is immediately absorbed by the Realm itself and is channeled into the making of another Dream, becoming a completely different being. The Spirit of the Fae itself is sent to the Spirit Realm where it is reincarnated into another creature.
