Setsuna had called her brother a few days ago. She really needed to speak to him one some very important issues.
She sighed as she flopped down on the couch in her chambers. On the table before the seating, lay a tray of steaming tea. Her laptop and file folders lay next to it off setting the tea tray.
She flipped through a few files and reports awaiting her brother's arrival.
She sighed again. While she need to speak urgently with him, she did not need him finding out about looking for her parents again.
Before he came, she wiped all trace of her 'exploits' from her face.

Yamashiro stepped into his sister's sanctum, just as she had requested. He almost let out a gasp of surprise upon seeing what his sister's headquarters had become.
Mortal technology and mortal food.
He would have gotten sick had his Celestial body not prevented him from doing so.
"Setsuna," he said, trying to keep his voice in place. "What are you doing? What is this...is this..." he stuggled to find an accurate word for this...this work of blasphemy that his sister was committing. "...what is this devilment?"
He didn't want to have to enter his sister's abode in this fashion, but it was the only thing that he could think of to say. However, he didn't want to start trouble with her--even though he could find no way to hide the disdain from his face.

[Devilment...? Really? LOL! There's no food, by the way!!]
Setsuna's head shot up when Yama entered and spoke. She pushed her reading glasses onto back onto her face. She did not like the way he entered her bedchambers.
"What are you talking about now, Yama? It's tea, there's nothing wrong with it. Lucky I didn't put food out, or you would have had a heart attack." Setsuna couldn't help the sarcasm in her voice. Yama was going to piss her off, if every time he entered her presence, and scoffed at her possessions. This was going to be a long meeting.
"Sit." she demanded. And waited for him to do so.

[Tea counts as Mortal food in the eyes of Heaven. Thought you should know.]
Yamashiro shook his head. "I cannot situate myself in such sin. I will speak with you from here, unless you manage to dispose of every wretched piece of Mortal possession here. I cannot stand this. I cannot sit here."
Looking around, he wondered briefly. When did she travel to the Mortal Realm to get all of this? How long did she stay there? What did they do to her?
He really didn't want to resort to the same measure that he did last time--magically binding her--but she seemed to not understand how far across the line of right and wrong she was walking. He would have to speak with her about this while he was there.

[How can drinks count as food? Drinks are drinks and food is food. Explain to me, in pm, what's Yama's problems with mortal possessions.]
Setsuna sighed. Damnit, brothers are difficult.
"Fine. I'll remember it all anyway. Let's take a walk around the grounds." She got up, strapped on her bow and quiver, and led the way to the outside.

[because Heaven doesn't even bother associating with Mortals to the degree that they understand how food and drinks work, it's all the same to them. I did PM you, though. You're going to have to do a bit of reading.]
Yamashiro was satisfied with this option. Following Setsuna outside, he asked. "Why was it that you wanted to see me?"

Setsuna went over to a bench in the garden. She looked up into the eyes of her brother.
"Yama..." her voice faultered, "What's going on? What's with this war against Hell? "
"We don't have a proper leader!" she exclaimed. "Everything is going wrong! What are the Elders doing, Yama? Why hasn't the position of the seventh ruler been filled? What's happening, Yama. Rumor has it, Tsubasa is soliciting for the open position of the seventh king. You know how I feel--that position belongs to Chiyo-dono, but she is not here."
"I need the truth so that I may apply the correct actions, and comply accordingly."

[sorry about the delay in response. I was discouraged from doing so because a week ago, I typed up a really, really long response and I accidentally hit the back button and I lost it all. So, after that I was like, "fuck it, I'll do it later." And that's what happened. Please forgive me.]
"The Vile Ones," Yamashiro said, using the term that Tsubarisu Hotaka and Lady Tsubasa had once coined, "Attacked us first. At Tohru-sama's wedding, they tried to massacre our Ha-ou, the King that we have now. And we have reason to believe that the Hellion forces are the reason that Tohru-sama is missing from her throne now. The only reason. We are simply defending ourselves and trying to regain our King."
He took a breath, knowing that his words would sound harsh to Setsuna. "The position of the Seventh Ruler has not been filled because candidates are afraid that they might die in the War if they lead us. No one really considered Tohru-sama our Ha-ou--she did nothing but sleep, and there are rumors circulating that she had an excursion with the Ishii Shoko and discussed allying herself with him. No one accepts her. I doubt that her History here would even be recorded. She was an abomination--a Human. One with powers, granted, but a Human none the less. And we Elders will not accept that here. We will not." his voice was cold and devoid of all emotion as he spoke his next answer.
"Yes. Tsubasa has attempted to fill Tohru-sama's place, but she was revoked by we Elders. I was the deciding vote on the matter, and I told her no." he sighed, looking Setsuna directly in the eye, and reaching with his right hand to take a strand of hair into his fingers. "I know that you would not have wanted her as a ruler of Heaven, and so I did not allow her to become one."
Jerking away, as though compelled by a sudden force, he turned away, saying as his conclusion, "I have answered all of your questions. What more do you want of me?"

[It's ok. I hate when that happens, you can never get back everything you said. What's up with Yama? He's getting too careless.]
Setsuna sighed, then stared off into the distance, taking in the hills and forest surrounding the royal estate. After some time, she returned her attention to her brother.
"Yama," she said. "Thanks for the information. You will keep me updated, won't you.? Is it allowed for an Elder to become a ruler of a Heavenly Layer? Or at least temporarily?" Then said as a last minute thought, "No, you're right. I wouldn't have wanted Tsubasa to become ruler of the Seventh or Heaven."
Setsuna didn't want to ask him, what she intended to, so she stalled what a series of other questions.

[You affect him in a weird way, with the sister obsession and all; that's why he's acting weird.]
Yamashiro said nothing as he watched his sister stare into the distance. His eyes not longer focused on her, he-as usual--had nothing to think about. There were issues to contemplate at hand, yes; however, there was no reason to consider that now. Things had not yet detriorated to the point where the Elders would take direct action.
After Setsuna bothered to gaze at him again, Yamashiro said in his usual, flat tones, "An Elder can be re-elected as a King in dire times, however, when there are candidates, an Elder can only rule temporarily." he said,

She nodded. "I understand."
"Yama, you know I value your opinion." She paused. "Tell me honestly...what do you think--no, never mind."
Setsuna mentally kicked herself for not saying what she intended.

Yamashiro said nothing. However, despite the unreadable expression on his face, he was concerned. Setsuna did not usually...express doubt in her opinions. She took the facts that were evident and made the decision to make a statement. Just as he did. Just as all Elohim did. He did not care enough to ask about his sister's plight, her unasked question--she would ask him when it was the correct time, and perhaps now was not it.
Looking her in the eye now, he said slowly, "Is there any other questions you have? If not, I have work waiting for me in my own office."

"If you are busy, then no." She rethough.
"No, wait." Indecisiveness was not in her character; I'm a damn Elohim act like it, she thought to herself. "You remember Xanthus don't you, or maybe you don't. He has asked for my hand in marriage. Do you think this is a good idea? To accept, that is. It could be a bad idea or unadvised, to say the least. What do you think?"
Setsuna looked towards her brother for an answer.

Yamashiro was torn. He did not know which answer to give her; the one that she wanted or the one that he personally thought was right.
"Marriage between a King and a civilian is usually not conducted. However, times have changed. Do as you wish. I suppose that you would like an heir to the throne that you can trust. I accept this policy. Having an heir is good. There are too many others that would strike you down for your power. I think that it is, at least, a strategically sound idea. I believe that you should accept. He should be warned, however, that if he does anything to physically hurt you or betray your trust then I will kill him." Even the threat was said impassively, almost as though he didn't want her to know if it was a joke or the truth.
"I am disturbed that it took you so long to actually tell me of this proposal."

Setsuna remained silent for a bit longer befor she replied. "I already have an heir, Kirara. And I know that will present some problems in the future because she is not my blood daughter, but I supposed the securing of a blood-heir is favorable." She nodded more to herself than to her brother.
She paused to consider the threat Yama just declared on her behalf about Xanthus. She decided to dismiss her thoughts and take them at face value of her brother being overprotective.
"As to why I have not mentioned the proposal, well, I was sure you would not have agreed. Or that somehow it would be forbidden, and frankly, I have had enough of being told what I can and cannot do, especially by the elders. I was not sure of your reaction, but of course, I would not have proceeded with the arrangement without your blessing. You are the head male of our family. Now that I know you support it, I can begin planning."
"Thank you," Setsuna said meeting her brother's gaze. "I guess...if you were busy you can get back to work. And I will go get Kirara from school."

Yamashiro felt the urge to frown. Was that all that Setsuna saw him as, a delay, a barrier and obstacle to all of her plans? No. And while there were a lot of things that were against the rules in Heaven, the Elders did not take pride in telling their subjects that they didn't have the right to do something that would make them happy.
He felt the right to defend his the description of his job. "Just so that you know, Setsuna, the Elders do not make the rules. We are simply given the task of helping to enforce them. Before you accuse us of limiting your freedom, think of all the things that we would like to do that we cannot." Before she would be able to answer him, he added, "Even having Kirara as your heir would not be against the rules. You may train whomever you wish to take over your position; it is simply a tradition in some families to pass down tasks by blood only. You do not have to be one of those families. In terms of your choice for marriage, the time for marriage between only Kings has passed--that was in the tyranny of the Shijin; it is not against any law. Whether or not you choose to believe me, it is not my soul purpose to hinder you from living out the rest of your existence. I wish you well in whatever your do, dear sister."

Setsuna sighed greatly, she did not intent to have her brother believe he was a hinderance.
"No, Yama, I don't see you as a hinderance. There are just some things I need to figure, is really all." She feel silent, not trusting to talk any longer.

"I am glad that you feel that I can help you figure out difficult choices," he said, turning to leave. "If you don't mind, I have work to return to in my office..."
