[This thread takes place three months after New Life]
Tomoyo was tired, but happy. Taking care of a child was a lot of work; she had known that already, but it was even harder taking care of the child when one was the mother. It required a lot of energy, and even Tomoyo felt fatigue.
Rakeru was bouncy and happy, and although his wings had not yet made an appearance, Tomoyo knew that he was a healthy child, especially because he was quiet. Celestial children typically had dreams of their past lives as children, and either Rakeru had happy times in his past life, or he didn't remember anything at all. Either option was fine with Tomoyo; she was just glad that he was around.
The only problem with the perfect picture was...Ren. Other than spending time with the baby when he had been born, and her initial elation at the idea of having gotten through having a child, Tomoyo had not spoken to Ren much. Even since she had kicked him out of her castle, other than after her labor she hadn't said a thing other than what was necessary about the baby. Ren was still busy with his family and trying to get that straightened out, something that Tomoyo still resented because of the lack of attention that she was getting.
Quite frankly, she wasn't used to being ignored. While she was no longer expecting to be the most important thing in Ren's life--despite the fact that she felt that she deserved to be--she was still hoping that some sort of minimal effort was going to be given. In Tomoyo's opinion, Ren had not yet earned the right to step back into her home, hence why she was spending most of her days at Rei's palace. It was the only way that Ren would see Rakeru, and she knew that it would be unfair to keep him from their child.
Rakeru was the only thing keeping her happy these days--he had developed an habit of nibbling on thin substances such as paper recently, and it always made Tomoyo laugh while she was taking it away and stopping the subsequent crying. To remedy this, though, she had crafted some thin, lightly flavored sugar paper--something that she had found in the Mortal Realm, and was allowing him to chew on that. He seemed very happy, sitting there with the sugar paper in his mouth, and Tomoyo wondered if she had looked that cute when she was a toddler.
She had made this room in the castle her little baby room, and she had decorated it with many of her own personal items, for herself and the baby. Looking over at a night stand that held a lot of trinkets for Rakeru, she saw the picture that she had placed on top--the picture of herself and Tohru prior to their marriage.
They looked so happy...so, so glowing, and now...she still felt like she was glowing, but only for Rakeru. And Tohru was gone. So much had changed...
...she was worried that her glow for Ren was becoming more dim.
