I'm been allowed to divulge some of the lore of the Tenebras coven, as to explain my character and as well as some of the things I've mentioned.
First and foremost, I must explain that the Tenebras covenant was formed for the sole reason of the continuation of the blood lines of two groups of beings: the race known as Phaenices, and the coven of vampires called Atrum.
Throughout the history of humanity, there have been epidemics. Mysterious disease develops, sweeping thousands into a fevered death. But humans aren't the only ones who suffer from these plagues. During such a blight, a young coven fell to near starvation from the sudden drastic decline in human fodder. They understood that even those humans that were still alive couldn't be tapped, lest they destroy a segment of the human race forever. So, they slept, and they slept.
However, youth need blood, just as man needs air. Without passion's liquid, primal urges and madness claims the mind. Lethargy claims the body. The Atrum coven, as they slept, were reduced to ravenous beasts, and were their rest to be disturbed, there would be no mercy for the poor souls who clambered across their doorstep.
The Phaenices were said to be born when the earth and the sun parted ways after their final coupling. They were famous for their invulnerability to and affinity for fire, as well as their inability to contract illness. However, they weren't gods, nor were they impervious to stones or spears.
The blight had made the humans desperate for resources and restoration, and people were starting to realize that none was coming. That's when their hopelessness turned to horror. The madness that the blight inflicted upon the humans turn that horror into hatred, and soon, there was war.
The humans, even in their diminished state and numbers, dealt several crushing unprovoked strikes against the Phaenices, who were never a numerous people in the first place. They were hunted until their numbers fell to a dozen Phaenician civilians: 4 children (1 boy, and 3 girls) 4 men and 4 women. The survivors fled from the bloodshed and never looked back.
They traveled north until they reached the banks of the Mediterranean, near Cairo where they found an abandoned manor. Thinking that the previous owners had died from illness, as was usual at the time, they settled in. Alas, they settled in the Atrum coven home, and as the children slept, the men, and women were fed upon and molested with reckless abandon.
The uncontrolled bite and exchange of blood invoked a strange reaction in both the Phaenices and vampires. One by one, they all burst into flames, only to awaken moments later covered from head-to-toe in ashes, looking nothing like their normal selves. Their features had changed dramatically and so did a few of their genders as well.
Together, the Atrum coven and the newly turned Phaenician race, became what is now the Tenebras coven, and the form-changing combustion is the Burning all pureborn or turned Tenebras vampires must go through.
