Chikara crashed her head against the table again, and this time the waitress from "The Vermilion" coffee shop in New York came over to her asked if she needed an aspirin.
"No," she replied.
She liked New York. It was as lively and rambunctious as she was. But that seemed to be the problem. She was here, drinking a cup of coffee and thinking about how that piece of shit Dragon had gotten the best of her. She knew that she hadn't fough in a long time, but goddamn it those comments shouldn't have made her angry.
She had put her husband in danger on top of things...

[Takes place before Out and About]
Walking away fro the counter, latte in hand, the young woman searched for an empty seat to sit and enjoy her drink. Bumping into the table of a distraught looking women with dark hair, Nani caught her drink and preventing most of it from spilling from her cup, the steaming hot liquid splashing onto the table. "Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry..." the girl said, her cheeks blusing in embarassment as she placed her drink on the table, procurring several napkins from her pocket to clean the mess.
Moving her blonde hair from her eyes as she cleaned up the mess, she looked into thr face of the woman, noticing no other seats availble as she cleanedup her small mess, "Pardon me but, do you mind if I sit and finish my drink with you?" She asked looking embaressed.

Knowing that this was a habit of humans somewhat, Chikara did not get mad at her for asking the question or breaking her thoughts.
Instead, she said in a sarcastic tone with a small laugh. "Sure. There's nothing over here but self-pity, though. Perfect place for a party..." she twirled her right index finger in a wordless but sarcastic whoopdie doo and took a deep breath, trying to bring herself back to normal for this stranger.
Just noticing the clean up that she did to the table, she waved her hand in a way that said she didn't really care about the damage that had been done.
She wasn't really sure about what she should have said to the girl, so she used her usual opener. "So...what's brought you to New York?" If there was one thing that she learned from being here with Jiishita, it was that everyone here had a story, whether or not they had been born here. It was always a good conversation opener, and it never grew old.

Nodding at the acknowledgment received from the woman at the the table, the young lady sat down and sipped her remaining latte, "Thank you so much, I am so sorry about the mess. I am Nani, and I've come to this loud city seeking information on the man the killed my grandfather." Nani said, with a look of sadness overcoming her features. "He killed him right in front of my eyes, this was several months ago and since then I have been traveling around, seeking information about him, hoping to find someone who can bring him to justice." Nani said, continuing to sip on her drink, the signs of fatigue in her search for the culprit showing in her youthful, but tired features.

Jiishita had looked all around downtown New York for his wife--which, even with magic, was difficult with so many people. She had just decided to leave as soon as they had gotten back from Yancha's clinic, and he didn't know why. She had said that she needed some time to herself, but she had been missing for almost the entire day and he was worried, what with her just healed and everything. He felt refreshed but knew that his wife still had to need a little rest.
Even using his magic, there were so many people and so many traces of life force--and lots of hidden magical creatures--in New York city tbhat it was hard to place her.
"Chikara, where are you....?"

"He had long white hair, and red horns on his head. He was accompanied by two ferocious looking beasts that ate the two men that tried to rob our small store, then he killed my grandfather in cold blood." Nani said softly, trying her hardest to keep her voice from breaking. "I've tried to go to the authorities but they won't take the case out of fer of my description, so I came here to New York. They say on can find anything here, all I want is my Papa's killer brought to justice." Nani continued, wondering if the women at the table cared at all about her plight.

It was then that, after searching for a few more minutes, he had unconsciously brought himself by the coffee shop that was chikara's favorite, the one in downtown Manhattan where he had proposed to her in front of all the Mortal's present. It had been wonderful, romantic, and Jiishita knew that it was at that moment that he finally could tell that Chikara felt comfortable in her new home. Of course, back then it was a tavern, and not a coffee shop, but the location was the same, and the fact that they had still kept going there when it became a small church, a restaurant, an apartment, a chinese food store, a family restaurant, and now a coffee shop, with many other changes in between.
It reminded Jiishita of how old they both were.
As he passed the threshold, he knew that she was there, and his eyes traveled to her without fail. "Chikara..."
