It wasn't as if Ren didn't realize what a big favor he was asking of his family members in supporting him.
He understood it fully. Understood that it would require him to gain as much of their trust as a leader as he had as a person or a seishi. He understood that they would all be making sacrifices and that some of them would be greater than other. He understood that some of them, including himself, might not walk away from this in one peice.
He understood all of that and yet he knew that what he was proposing and planning was absolutely necessary.
Not just for himself and his immediate family but for the entire Byakko no Ichizoku.
So as he sat in the villa in the mortal realm that he'd had his subordinates rent out, in the room he'd claimed as his office, he waited for the rest of his family members to arrive in order to get things underway.
He sat, his hands pillowed on his fists, eyes closed, frowning as he tried to concentrate on what he considered the first step in the process to handling his responsibilities.
If he was going to gather his family here, supporters and non, he needed to be sure that he would be able to handle himself properly and efficiently when and if the time came when using his power would be necessary.
And that meant ensuring that Rokujou behaved when he let enough power out of the seirei's cage to use against people like Tsubasa and Mimiko.
Practical application aside, the fist step in that process was ultimately meditation. To ensure that the being inside of himm was going to cooperate during the course of the meeting, failing that....
Well, he had his cell phone directly at his elbow and had his sister's number on speed dial.
He'd never been able to supress Rokujou completely with only the power held in his half of their pact and certainly not in the mortal realm where the seirei tended to get overly exited. To prevent something the incident that happened on the fifth of heaven from happening in Madrid, he would need Rei's half as well.
He would have to link himself with his twin. Psychically, Mentally, Physically, Spiritual.
Every aspect of what made the twin seperate people would have the cease to be seperate people.
It was a painful process, forcing two opposite souls to resonate as one. It was something they'd never been able to do without very painful consequences so it was always a last resort.
"Ren-sama..." He didn't have to look up to know it was Shizuka in the doorway, just as all he had to do was sigh for her to realize just how annoyed he was. "I know you didn't wans to be bothered, Ren-sama, but Kenai-senpai and I finished contacting all of the Byakko no Ichizoku. She thought it would be prudent to let you know right away that Rei-sama and her guardians would be here tonight."
He looked up at her now, tilting an eyebrow.
" 'Guardians'? What does that mean? Her Generals?"
"No, aruji. Well, partially. Akatsuki-san is comming, though the other three have been put in charge of the Gosou. Apparently, some of her youkai followers have decided that she isn't safe here and have decided to accompany her."
The eyebrow acended farther into his hairline.
"...What the hell is she playing at now...?"
"Apprently, she's considering merging her two thrones. Or at the very least, keeping her closest subordinates on both sides constantly around her."
"..." Ren sighed and resumed his former position. "What kind of circus is she planning on running now? She's just bored and is trying to amuse herself somehow. She should take up some other hobby than screwing with millenia old traditions."
"...Would you like me to relay that message to Rei-sama?"
His head snapped back up with an expression of horror.
"For the love of all that is holy, do not tell my sister anything that I say about her while she isn't in the room. Consider that an official order!"
Shizuka hesitated for a moment, before nodding and taking her leave, deciding that she really didn't want to know.
