Youkai::Felidae Clans

This thread will focus on the most prevalent types youkai from the Felidae:

• Neko (all types of domesticated cats),
  
• Shishi (all types of lions), and
  
• Tora (all types of tigers)
  

Like with every other types of youkai, there are many more different species in the Felidae Clan than just these three, and I'm only covering the majority. You are welcome to have a character in another species ^^

Neko (Cat) Youkai

The Neko are a group more like the Inu than their other Felidae counterparts. They travel in groups comprising of more than one specie of cat. However, because of their solitary natures, neko tribes can break at any moment, specifically depending on the personal agendas of the neko involved. This also means that any neko tribes can have a plethora of different elements being used or taught at the same time.

Unlike the Canidae Clan, members of the Felidae usually disguise themselves amongst humans. It is for this reason that most Felidae Clans do not typically make distinctions between themselves, unless they are disguising themselves as a wild animal group, as Inu typically do. it is not unusual for neko to befriend Humans, either.

Requirements for Tribe names: Neko tribes are named after Archetypes given to Humans.

Requirements for group magic: There are no requirements for this group. However, every member of a neko tribe that is not a kitten must have their own story behind the element that they have chosen.

Tora (Tiger) Youkai

The Tora are a wildcat Felidae Clan that grew from the Neko. As Youkai in general choose their own full animal form, the Tora evolved into a group through those that chose tigers as their animal form. This was because in wild areas such as jungles or savannas, more strength than that of a cat is required for survival.

As a wildcat group, the Tora usually only accept only other Tora as members, but this depends heavily on the situation in which the Tora assembled. In wild settings such as the two listed above, it is important to draw attention with an old Felidae youkai that assimilate themselves into Human society, and in these all Felidae are welcome.

Most Tora are taught the natural magics: Fire, Earth, Water, Air or Metal, and they use these to influence the natural world in their favor, not just for hunting but a variety of other reasons.

Requirements for Tribe names: Tora youkai name their tribes after ancient Human civilizations.

Requirements for group magic: Must have elements for Fire, Earth, Water, Air or Metal. Exceptions allowed but there must be a history to substantiate it.

Shishi (Lion) Youkai

Just like the Tora Youkai, the Shishi are an off branch of the Felidae inspired by survival that grew in popularity. Shishi youkai vary in policy about Humans depending on the Head of the Pride--or tribe--of Shishi youkai in question. Sometimes Shishi adapt to Human lifestyle and at times they don't. The Shishi are the one major Felidae Tribe that does not open its arms to its brethren despite the fact that they themselves are accepted elsewhere. This is because there are very few Shishi who live in domesticated areas, even if they associate with them.

The Shishi are known through the other Youkai clans for their courage and their devotion to tradition--even the few Shishi tribes that are Humanized translate their animal behavior to how their pride interacts in Human form. as such, the women are more fear by other Youkai than the males.

As far as magic goes, Shishi youkai typically train in support magic, using elements for their effects on others rather than for pure power or force. Most of their magic is used toward hunting, even in their animal forms. It is rare for Shishi youkai to hunt or consume food in any other form than their animal form. Like with Ookami youkai, they all work together as a team.

Requirements for Tribe names: Shishi youkai tribes are named after landscapes or words that describe them.

Requirements for group magic: There is no restriction on which elements this group can use. However, the element in question has to be used for supportive purposes only. That being said, you must restrict what sort of abilities your Shishi character has to supportive/effect and affliction usage only.
