[takes place after "Darkness in the city of lights"]
Yomi blinked her eyes, seeing the servant swarming over her, she knew that she was in good hands. She couldn't feel anything--her body was numb, and saw other surveying the damage outside, looking at the remains of the shattered glass that had been the foolish spectators of her fight with the "Prince of Dragons". The ice, had all melted now, and Yomi knew that either he had been injured just as badly as he, or he had not been truthful about his desire to destroy everyone in the town. He would have kept his magic stable there in that case.
Well, he's Tomoyo's problem now...
"Are they all dead?" one ofher servants asked, looking out at the city. There were very few lights blinking, and most of the buildings looked totaled or destroyed completely. Although the shards of ice were no longer there, the damage done by them remained.
Yomi coughed, the blood splashing up into the air and falling down onto her face, since she was lying on her back.
"Safety protocol..." she said, trying to move. She was glad that they had numbed her; it allowed her to lift up her head, just a little. The icicle that had pierced her middle was gone--however, the wrappings covering the wound were covered in blood. Only the look of the texture allowed her to evern distinguish it as gauze--there was nothing white left.
"We have to change her dressing again. We'll have to do it until the blood stops. That'll take a while..."
Yomi's vision was hazy. She couldn't see anything past her own body.
"Safety protocol..." she said again.
It was at that moment that someone dressed in black run through the gaping hole in her castle--one which repairs had already started.
"Is she awake yet?" the figure in black said.
"Yes." Yomi heard.
The figure, hazy, though black, stepped toward her bedside.
"Mistress Yomi the Kaze-ou."
Yomi coughed up more blood, this time sinking back down and spitting it out on her floor in reply.
The servant/runner winced. "Yomi-ou, I have search the city. Whatever threatened us is now gone, physically and in presence. As you can see, we have taken care of your wounds and we've started to patch up the castle. As for those out on the lawn, there were 27 of them. All dead. Ten of them have children who are orphaned now. Three of those ten have children who are no longer in the Realm. Two of those ten are adults and take care of themselves. Two have families to stay with, and Three have no home of their own. We have put them here in he castle for the time being."
Yomi tried again to ask her question. "...Safety...protocol..."
The servant seemed to understand. "Safety protocols were followed by most of the people if not all. There are scattered bodies along the city. I would gather about another Fifty or so, impaled by icicles or crushed by falling buildings."
Yomi's mind was racing. So, that meant..."Percentage..."
"Percentage of population safe? That would be about ninety. Most saw the strange weather, like myself, and went to the underground shelters. I have gone to each of them to check myself. Many committed suicide being jittery about what was going on outside. It appears that while the shelters took hard hits, only one was weak enough to have a small portion collapse. Section twenty-nine had a partially roof collapse. Three Balseraphim were knocked out with bad head wounds. They will live. It appears that Safety Procedure number five was a lot more smooth than the other congratulations."
Yomi nodded, feeling like she was going to pass out again.
"...Message...now..."
"I'm listening, Kaze-ou-sama."
"...Dragon Prince...Il..." her mouth struggled to form the words in her paralyzed state. "Ilreg...going to meet Sanada. Beware. White...as snow...ice...powerful..." She could feel her vision popping out, and she knew that she would need more rest before her wounds would begin to heal properly, anyway. "Go...deliver."
The Runner bowed. "Yes. Uesugi-sama."
